Muck
Moving parts depends on the model, most of the early ones, the 109e P-52, F4u, and p-38 lack moving parts other then the canopy and props.

The Later ones like the P-47 and Spitfire have moving controls. and the P-47 has flaps that go down.

The detail is getting better as well. The Spitfire looks really good. So does the 47. The corsair and P-38 are good. Not quite at good though.

The first one they did the p-51 was not great but the 109 E is not bad at all.

I'm sorry to ask stupid question, but I'm looking for a desktop model with moving parts. When you say Moving controls, what do you mean? I mean, there's no little stick that makes the elevators move and all, right? You mean all the control surface can be moved by hand?

Hey, Muck, maybe you could look into getting an R/C kit that could be converted to a static model?  Maybe by replacing the R/C motor with a simply electric one and kit-bashing a scale model cockpit into the R/C fuselage?

Just an idea.

Then again, the R/C fuselage would probably lack the detailing that a scale model fuselage could provide, like rivet details and panel lines.

Now that I think about it, I think Tamiya at one time made a "Visible Mustang" where the fuselage was clear plastic and you could see all of the interior ribbing, control cables, etc.  Maybe that's something you could check in to.

Maybe even take one of those plastic "Ultimate Soldier" airplanes and add control cables to it?

GF-

I thought about that, but soon realized I lack both the talent and the time to build an RC airplane or convert it.

Maybe some day.

Maybe 21stCenturyToys will hear your plea and do something with an airplane like they've done with the tank.

$400 bucks for a complete flying rig isn't bad at all!  Judging from the pics of what comes in the box, I would think any adult could get this baby together and flying.

I just don't trust my ability to get this thing airborne and back down safely!
