Hence why I said a Daddy Long Legs is different in each region.

Yeah, none of those pics looked like a daddy long legs to me.  I'll see if I can dig up a pic of what i know as one.

Edit:

Not a good pic, but a good description.

Here's a pic:

I can't get over that pic. That thing is shrecking NASTY! Who cares about venom? Prolly more tourists have died of a heart attack from seeing this.... thing....  than as a result of any spider bite.

Prolly a delicacy in some parts though...

Nash I agree it's nasty, but it's 2 of them and the scale appears to be distorted by the camera distance . It appears to me that they are the most forward objects in the shot and maybe 2 inches long by my guess.

The pic makes it seem like it's an Alaskan king crab or something.

If it's one thing I hate it's Spiders...

Jeez, that camel spider is going to give me nightmares!

Looks like the Baby Alien from the movies...Is that two spiders biting each other?
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

ROFL... Couldnt agree more...

I hate spiders. I smash them everytime i find one.

A few years back I was bit BAD by what the doc thought was a spider. (unsure of which kind)

I hate them. The are sick, sneaky little bastiges.

Worse than snakes... Screw spiders.... Geesh the though makes me cringe:mad:

lol, good spot!

Heh... with a different cropping that dude could get his palm read.

The spider looked to me to be about a foot and a half.

I think there a little bit bigger than than 2 inches...Maybe just a little bit bigger, but still.

Big enough to scare the crap out of me.

You can see his sleeve cuff and it looks like he's got them by a set of pliers.

If someone reposts that GD pic of those GD Camel spiders again I swear I will send a crate of Brown Recluses to said logged IP.

Like many of you I ruttin' HATE arachnids of ANY type.

I actually tried to watch Arachnophobia one time.  Worst movie decision of my life.

I grew up with the harmless non-spider Daddy Long Legs and they don't bother me at all.  OTH I also grew up with "true" banana spiders and to this day they scare the crap out of me.  There was a field across the street from my house that had a creek running through.  It was mostly overgrown with brush and trees.  As a kid my friends and I would "explore" down by the creek every chance we had, especially in the summer.  The worst feeling in the world, that I have ever known, was during these "explorations" we would at some point walk through a brushy area and feel the tension of a spider web we had unknowingly walked through in our hair or shoulders.  It could only be one spider.  The nasty evil looking black and yellow stripped banana spider.  You have never seen anyone run as fast as we did when that happened.  Or as loud.

We don't have to fear much from spiders in Belgium. Lots of them, but mostly small and their venom is mild.

I'm no specialist, but I think that one of our 'nastier' species is this one (called épeire diadème):

You'll see those very often, the adults are usually 2 cm diameter(with legs), I've already seen some individuals around 3.5 cm.
Being bitten by an adult is far from being life threatening but can lead to fever, swollen limb and great general discomfort for 2-3 days.

Our biggest spiders are around 5 cm diameter but most bites aren't worse than a wasp sting. And if I'm right there are no allergy issues with spider venom.

A couple of years ago I was really afraid of spiders. Then I bought a house which turned out to be 'the Spider's Palace'! Dozens of fresh webs in the basement and we regularly see those critters running around in the rooms. Well it did a lot to calm my fear. I won't leave one running on my bare arm but I don't flail hysterically anymore when that happens... I rarely kills spiders now, I try to put them outside instead. And I must say that their web makes useful mosquito netting in the summer, as we leave near a big pond...

Are there any Spiders venomous enough to kill a human with just one bite?
Anyway, the most venomous creature on the planet is some Aussie Jellyfish, can't remember the name. A touch will kill you within a minute or so,,,yeaccchhhh
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Yuk!! I too hate spiders!
But here's some food for thought.....those little bastards actually do a lot of good.
Did you know that the combined weight of the insects on planet Earth far exceeds that of the combined human population?
If it werent for all the spiders eating vast quantities of those insects, there may just be that many insects that the combined human population weight wouldnt be a hell of a lot anyway. We'd all die of starvation.
Same goes for snakes with rats and mice.

Blue

The jellyfish you mean is probably the Box Jellyfish, and a Funnelweb bight is fatal if you dont get antivenom rather quickly.
I allways thought the most toxic/venomous creature was that Amazonian frog....the one the pygmies use the poison from to tip their arrows. It's bright red I think.

BTW anyone ever hear of an African spider that injects an aneasthetic and eats your flesh while you cant feel it?

What are those white things hanging off the abdomen of the bottom spider? They look like the plastic price tag tabs you see on clothes.
