Wait a minute....are fuel leaks missing?

I haven't had a fuel leak....ever.  Just lucky?  Is it broken?

Granted I don't play too often, but the only damage I get is either 100% catostrophic or engine damage, plus the odd pilot wounded and damaged gun once in a great while.

Not much else though.

Hans.

Fuel leaks, fires, radiator damage, dead engines, ailerons, elevator, missing stabs/rudders, they all working fine. Just take a ride with me in the 38 and help me fly my crippled bird back every other sortie. Good thing it has two of most everything.

I've had a fuel leak plenty of times.

I've also had a fuel leak plus a fire visible on the plane.  If you get that combination, bail out.  Because the plane is about to explode.

pretty much any bullet hitting a Zeke will produce a fuel leak..

But be carefull when you want to marvel over thefuel leak don't hit with a second bullet or it will fall apart

F4u does not have fuel leak :>
when i flew f4u and got fuel leak and lost halfa wing, i flew back home nicely and still had fuel left (and that was way over 25 miles trip)
i could still have flown to another airfield.

can't see any difference in fuel usage with f4u when it leaks fuel.
in other planes you're out of fuel in no time.

Would sure like to see the CFS2 effect of igniting the fuel vapor with incindiary bullets, man that's a cool effect!

I hit a Zeke last night and it started a fuel leak and a fire.  I went in to finish him off and I saw the fire.  So I backed off and told my guys to watch, that he was gonna blow.  So we went passive and let him chase us around a little bit.  Sure enough within a few seconds, blammo, little Zeke pieces everywhere.

Fishu, were you carrying drop tanks earlier that sortie? It sounds strange I know, but a few weeks back I'd dropped my tank and engaged an enemy plane, and then had my fuel tank hit. The fuel gauge seemed almost stationary. I thought 'hmm, that's wierd', so got Firecat to take a closer look. Sure enough, the fuel leak was coming from the empty space where my drop tank was attached before

I rearmed and took off again, still trailing my white airshow smoke. Firecat posted a pic on the squad BB, here you go:

Note where the smoke is coming from

Nah.. my main tank fuel gauge needle was moving
I had bombs with me anyway when i took off, so no DTs would had fit in..

I've seen this also myself.. been looking from ostwind few times when f4u just flies out of range a bit with fuel leak and does not wan't to glide down at all in several minutes.

Heheeh a "fuel leak" from a drop tank.

I've got some gun camera photos of drop tank "fuel leaks" on Luftwaffe planes that forgot to jettison their tanks before combat.

The problem is that you can't see the leak too well because of the 200 foot fireball.
