Just how nice are you ?

Yo KB, he means LIGHTNIN UP and DON'T TAKE IT SO SERIOUS, IT'S JUST A GAME!

Remember it takes a concious effort to type in BS and more concious thought to read it. (where as blurting out BS to yerself in a room is hard to do because it's a conditioned reaction   )

Makes me no nevermind what gets said on the open channel. I don't have to hear it myself, I don't have to read, don't have to respond to it, and I can squelch it.

IMO if you see something on the open channel you don't like but don't feel like squelching, type in some gibberish 3 times to get it out of the buffer (works for when kiddies are around and such)

If all else fails, just put a smilely after EVERYTHING. Even if you foaming at the mouth with anger. When ya simmer down you then have the ability to say "I was joking" rather then "I am the scum of the earth, please fogive me, I am hellbound and will no longer curse you with my presence"

Yanno?

It really makes me wonder how someone can really get "offended" so easily only from words read off of a glass screen?

-or-

Do they just react so sensitively after emotionally stressful situations created while playing games like AH?

Do they physically live in the real world?

It is called "Schmack Talk".  If I call some one an "Ostwind QuakeBoy" or a "F4 Dork are U" it means they probably just smoked me.  I can't speak for all people but an image comes to mind.

Picture a mouse standing on the edge of a cliff.  An eagle is screaming down and the mouse is a fraction of a second away from its last breath.  The mouse stands up proud, puffs its chest out and gives the eagle the FINGER.

While this mental picture might be considered a last act of defiance.  You actually think that the mouse would decline to do the same thing should the eagle narrowly miss in its attack or failed to kill the mouse instantly?

My eyes can picture this and my ears can hear the mouse screaming at the eagle "Smelly Turkey Buzzard"

Lighten up, you will have more fun!
