infact just looked they have a newer set

Did a little checking.  Drivers for ME are from March, and drivers for XP are from June.  Maybe our (ME users) fix is coming soon?

doubt it, i know nvidia isnt spending much time or effort on developing drivers for old OS's

you should really look into XP home (OEM version) for $92 on newegg. add the little audio cable to satisify you purchase of hardware and you get it for free (the cable). full version of XP home for $92.... one of the best deals you'll find.
I don't know what to put here yet.

I wouldnt be using ME is i was you. it is one of the most unstable OS' that i know of. I would think about atleast upgradring to Windows 2K as XP is 2K with more cosmetics. also the drivers for 2K and XP a generally the same.

Win98Se is still the preffered platform for many "gamers". I would have thought ignoring it would be very short sighted.

I won't be changing the OS on my machine.  ME has been one of the most stable platforms for me, despite its common reputation.

In any case, HiTech, will you be bugging ATI for a driver release for us lowly 98/ME users, or will we have to do it?  Or is there some possibility that the problem isn't in ATI's code?

If i was a 'hardcore' gamer.. i would be using 2K.. any nothing less. i have never been a fan a win 98 and its 'blue screen of death'
But.. im not a huge gamer so i run XP on my machine..and it does me fine :)

So are we to understand that Radeon 9200 or less with cat 4.3 drivers  will always leave this undesirable effect?

Anyone with that setup not getting this?

Solutions?

Wait on HTC?

Update OS so we can use cat 4.6? (it would be cheaper to upgrade the card!)

Upgrade the vid card?

Try omega drivers?

Can someone from HTC please comment on this?  HiTech, you've read these posts enough to comment that artik had the wrong drivers, why not post a comment for the rest of us.

Is the issue with Win95/98/ME ver 4.3 ATI drivers?  Is it a problem with AH2 code?  You must have contacts at ATI, do they plan to fix the 95/98/ME drivers?

peregin: No I don't have contacts at ati.

2nd I have no idea if changing the drivers fixed artik.

If it did, it obviously it is a driver issue.

No idea if ATI is still supporting W98.

It was for me too. Built my old box with ME. Built a new box and couldn't justify using ME. Went with XP home.

Now I keep asking myself, why did I wait so long..

It's soooooo much better.

In EVERY way.

What was that blue screen of death thingy ??? :)

I have XP on my laptop and while I do find it to be more stable than ME, XP and ME for me are the most stable microsoft OS's I've used since DOS.  I'm not going to upgrade this machine, because of the expense and the fact that the manufacturer warns of potential compatability issues with XP.  I'm going to replace this machine, I just want to do it on my schedule and not rush due to the release of AH2.
