Motorcycle for sale
« on: June 21, 2004, 04:42:55 PM »
Anyone interested?  I will miss the bike, but I broke my joystick and need the funds for a new one.

2001 Yamaha FZ1.  1000 cc's. Extra's include chin fairing, chrome radiator cover, and an aftermarket undertail kit. Brand new Pirelli Diablo's front and rear.  Regualr maintenance has been performed on schedule.  12.6K on the odo.  This bike produces 126 HP and is 450 dry.  That equates to a very brisk pace if wanted.  OTOH the bike is also very docile and easy to ride.  This bike is not a true sportbike and is more of a sport touring bike with the performance of a sportbike.  Very comfortable to ride for distance with a very upright seating position.  I also have 3 Joe Rocket  jackets and two helmuts I will throw in.  $5300 or best offer.

Gee... Getting rid of your bike to buy a joystick?

And I thought the guy who wanted to buy the removable stick covers was over the top.

Why don't you mow that kid's lawn instead?

HAHA, well even though this *IS* the O'club, I wanted to at least attempt to relate my blatant use of this forum to advertise my bike to AH:D.

Still, if you are in Texas, this is a really good price on this bike if your interested.

thx Slo.  I really love this bike.  Its a real head turner around San Antonio.

It's nice for a crotch rocket. If it were a Virago or V-Star I'd bite.

Nice bike, any chance of free shipping to NZ? LOL

I'm bugging a guy to sell me his Katana at the moment. Absolutely mint condition hope he will do the deal in a couple weeks.

Japanese classic (design icon as far as Jap sports bikes) superbike that I've always wanted in my garage. :D

Jigsaw-

That little 599 is a neat little bikel; cant take anything away from it.    My bike is about twice the power and a little heavier.  If you are interested I suggest going to a dealer close by and sit on a FZ1.  If there is a used one on sale you can talk them out of a test ride.  Then if you want to buy, we can hook up.  My bike is like new.  I say all that simply because of of your location.

Dont listen to them cruiser dweebs.

Remember the old Vmax? It used to be the fastest quarter mile bike or something like that. Did it ever become a classic, I mean, do people still look to buy those old bikes?

Vmax is still produced and is still really fast.  It isn't fast like the hot sportbikes are though.  Given equal rider competency and a safe road, my bike will beat a Vmax in the 1/4 mile.  When a popular magazine tested a FZ1, it cut a 1/4 mile in well under 11 seconds.  A Vmax gets under 11 too.  For comparison, a Suzuki  GSXR 1300 (Hayabusa) straight off the showroom floor will clear the traps in 10 seconds flat, and with a few mods like strapping the front end will dip into the 9's.  In 2004, all the big Japanese bike companies introduced or revamped their 1000 CC superbike line.  All of them are scary fast with the Kawasaki ZX 10R apparently being the fastest.  When one guy who was testing it on a quarter-mile run commented that the bike was doing a power wheelie when he crossed the traps, that is a good description of how faast they have become.

That bike would turn heads anywhere, Ammo.   As a former sportbike rider, my official advice is not to sell it.    Sold my CBR600 10 years ago and still miss it.    Would love to get another one but now its difficult to justify the expense.
