Hawker, you're from Rhode Island? I've landed a few stripers in my day. I'm originally from Newport and I go back every summer for some fishing.

Where'd you go? Don't worry about keeping your secret spots secret, I know just about all of em LOL...my dad iss 74, and he was fishing with my great uncle until HE died in 1972 at the age of 98.

We know a few things about where the hot spots are...good stories, too! I'm actually going back there in August for a few weeks.

Went trolling with umbrella rigs off the north and east sides of block island.  Just hung around on the topo drops and saw what would bite.  Didn't have much luck, mostly small fry.  I tried to go for fluke, but wasn't very good at it....

If you really want fluke to hit...try bouncing single hook diamond jig off sandy bottom, with squid strip on the hook. Fluke are more aggressive than you might think.

I'm going to sea in July then in august south of BI,  to the dumps, then to montauk for tuna and anything else, then I'll be surfcasting the rest of the time back home.

Welcome to a sport that you can do your whole life. Redtail is right on the flounder rig. My fishing ground was the Chesapeake Bay where along w/ the squid, a strip o' belly skin of a "spot" or "croaker" worked equally well on flounder.

Ignore the "manly" poser--anyone who must brag about his libido probably hasn't any.
