Whatever maps you see in the Main Arena.

We are converting some AH1 maps by pulling out all custum tiles and objects and replacing them with standard fields and objects for the Battle of Britain Scenario and some other maps for Squad ops to get us up and going for the Special Events Arena.

I was working on a september '43 Scenario, Italy, when the thieves stoled my PC.

I am now trying to reconstruct my work on the new PC, using some writed note that is left.

The ambientation is during Salerno landing, extendable up to Cassino.

Do you like it?

We have the planeset almost complete.
(Lacking an early p38, the A36A, the Beaufighter, the Baltimore, the He111 and some minor kite.)

Let me know please when we have an English Channel Map.

Also I will need some help with determining the game settings.

Can AH2 be run without any icons at all?

Thanks!

Since we already hosted a player designed / run event this year - some time next year for a scenario like this.

Do all this big number of squadrons you want to bring to scenario?

Quote
19, 41, 64, 65, 66, 71, 81, 91, 111, 118, 121, 124, 129, 130, 131, 133, 154, 165, 222, 232, 242, 302, 303, 306, 307, 308, 309, 310, 312, 317, 331, 332, 340, 350, 401, 402, 403, 411, 412, 416, 485,501, 602, 610, 611 & 616

Or it is only historical research?

There should be some issues of game ballance:

You need to bring close to equal forces to each side.
IMHO LW needs some more 109 squadrons - you have given only two of them when RAF/USAAF has P-51B, Typhoon squadrons that has better perfomance then 109G2 and Spitfire Mk IX that has quite close perfomace to 109
Also 190A5 - would be outclassed by P-51B/Typhoons......

I think one of the most important points is game ballance (every one wants to feel good chances for victory at each side) it is finally only game

Good Luck<>

It's Historical. Since this is an accurately modeled sim I thought I better keep it with the Historical line up.

In the actual battle, which was the largest single engine dayfighter fight during the war in the west, the LW won a major victory.  I know that we don't have the 190A3 but we do have the 190A5 which was a better performer due to higher boost and more powerful BMW 801D2 vs the +25lb Spit V.  The Typhoon was a horrible plane for Air to Air and should be down on the deck defending the landings.  IN fact it was quickly withdraw from the fighter role and adopted for the Ground attack shortly after it's introduction.

This is the Order of Battle for the Air.

Here are the results:

http://fw190.hobbyvista.com/Dieppealliedvictories.htm

http://fw190.hobbyvista.com/Dieppevictories.htm

http://fw190.hobbyvista.com/Dieppelosses.htm

So I should include more 109's and add more LW??

You have to remember too that some of these planes will have tactical restrictions to reflect their place in the battle.

P51B will be used for tactical recon as it was in the actual raid.

Spitfire Mk IX will escort the B17's as they did Historically.

Typhoons will keep the Panzers at bay and soften up the objectives at Dieppe.

A20's and Mosquito's will hit the Objective and surrounding bases.

I need to free up more Ground forces for the Axis to give the Allied Ground attack forces more targets.

Spitfire's will have to maintain a continous presence over the battlefield to protect the Ground pounders.  Since they will have to fly from England and have limited fuel, They will probably not all be up at once over the Objective.  No A/C can fly from the CV, only Allied LVPT's.

The Ju88's will be busy "softening up" the Dieppe for the counterattack and be the only effective Anti-Shipping A/C in Axis inventory.

The ratio needs to be reduced to 2 to 1 loss instead of 3 to 1 and maybe ease up on the number of ships the LW has to sink.

What do you think?

IMHO the best for any type of event is 1:1 raito......
It is still a game and all players have to have fun. It is not fun to be shut down too many times.....
Yes it might be not exctly historical.........
But tell me if it would be fun to play Perl-Harbor for USAAF? When you should roll from base at slow P-40 when hundreds of Zerros flying over you ;)
Yes it is historical event and it must be as exact as possible - but you should remember that there are two sides that want to enjoy the game

Simple change ratios between planes/sides could imporve situation. Just when I have seen that you gave only two 109 squadrons for LW....... ;)

That is the way I see special events..........
