Sik, if you see me online let me know.  I can give you the dough to buy a decent ship.

I'm sitting on about 100,000 clams right now, I can't remember what I was going to buy with it (a Bantam maybe?).

Since I wasn't sure how long I'd play (if I would even play past my 2 weeks) I figured I'd focus on mining/refining since it was something I could jump right into.

Right now I just upgraded the mining laser on my rookie ship to speed up my common mineral mining times. I totally suck at getting around (the only hopping I've done was to program the HQ into my computer and turn on the auto pilot lol) but I'm slowly getting the hang of things.

I tried to get the game running, all I got was a black screen at first and it locked up.  Next time I tried it, the screen kept jumping resolutions around but didn't get past the splash screen.  Well, the splash screen kept coming up in diferent resolutions.

I really did want to try it to, maybe after I get back I'll give it another shot.

Here's a wierd one... the game only wants to run in 1024x768, while my desktop is at 1280x1024. So, I end up with EVE running in a small window on my computer. When I was doing the tutorials, I reset windows to 1024x768 but after a while I figured that it was easier to leave it alone as a window, since I was going to be reading the boards while I monkey-humped my way through the solar system doing the mind-numbingly boring, yet strangly adicting asteroid mining.

Aha! that explains my mystery dump last night. My daughter just loves to hit that Windows key (she's 15 months old, and the windows key is the only one she can hit and constantly have the computer DO something lol).
