Who flies them?

I fly LW for VEF, RAF for VWF.

Eastern pilot in the LW
:D

and Western FrontRAF/USAF pilot for Normandy campaign

Maybe I'll join your squad Wotan. VWF/VEF is all I do because they full real (no icon/padlock and stuf), dogfight servers not much my thing.

It's really not that hard after a couple of missions. It really makes you look around, and emphasizes the immersion factor. It also gives you  chance to land while flying a lesser plane. Allows you to perform NOE raids wing in wing deep inside eni territory ... hoping not to be spoted, lot of fun.

Wait and buy FB Gold, or whatever it's called. It's FB and AEP in the same box. AEP is really a must have extention.

... and soon I'll be winging Mitsu against hordes of smurts.:D

Frenchy I missed your post...

We have been having a hard time getting the squad together to fly in the online wars recently. Every one is busy with rl.

We usually get 4 or 5 on a night and if we see a VWF/VEF mission about to run we jump in. We have been flying a lot of DF. Tonight we had 5 guys in Greater green.

My Email is wotan fw-190 com

We will set something up.

S!

Pongo,

No icons is fine because we arent flying an arena with 500 players and mixed aircraft.

The Online wars are mission based. Escort bombers, Jabo XXX, sweep over XXX.

You pretty know what’s what going into the battle. Add in Vox and its fairly easy figure out who is who.

Now new guys who haven’t flown much get lost easily, loose SA and may end up shooting at friendlies. But there’s no gps map either. You have to navigate. You can’t just open the map and know where you are at.

Even in DF servers it’s almost always Axis vs. Allies.

After a while they all get the hang of it.

It would never work in the AH main. Maybe an event or ToD but the Ah crowd doesn’t have the temperament to experiment.

I played in Forgotten Skies or Forgotten Wars, or whatever the shreck it use to be called and then got renamed.

Was a lot of fun, the only way to navigate was by compass, landmarks and a lot of dead reckoning. No icons, I think before my computer died and the patch fiasco with Uber Buttplugs Inc. that they were pushing for short icons. I really oppose that idea because you get one of several problems: Plane ID only, you know what you are attacking before you get into gun range. Range tag, you can better aim rockets and hit at your pre-set convergence for your guns to get an insta-kill. Think those were the only two options, didn't like them all that much.

Then my computer died on me, so I've been putting a new one together over the past few weeks. Finally got the time to test it out and it runs AEP great in perfect mode, except I get an occasional brief (millisecond) pause that appears to be from texture loading... figured 128MB w/S3TC compression would have saved enough memory to not require that kind of transfering. Maybe I have a setting messed up somewhere... Anyone know any good tips for the Radeon 9800 Pro?

Right now its only at 4X AGP, if I can figure out why 8X AGP makes the system unstable - maybe that'll cure some problems.
