Target For Tonight

880 squadron is sponsoring "Target For Tonight" in the Combat Theater this Thursday at 10 p.m. Eastern U.S. time (9 Central).

On Jan 10, 1941 the RAF began Circus Operations, they were coordinated bomber and fighter attacks on targets in France.

Six Blenheims of 114 Squadron were escorted by 72 fighters(Spitfires/Hurricanes) on an attack against an ammunition depot South of Calais.

The Circus operations of 1941 were contested by a very worthy foe, with the principal defenders being JG2 "Richthofen" and JG 26 "Schlageter"

This weeks mission will be a representation of one of these circus operations against a target in Calais. With the RAF having sucessfully defended the "Home Island", yet still standing alone(8th is on it's way), turns to the offensive.

The Luftwaffe defeated in the Battle of Britain, but still a very strong and dangerous opponent.

they also had/have TFT on thursdays

Think name comes from an old British war film,
and is often used by a few other games in reference to an event

RAF Bomber Command in a Night Action

"Target for Tonight" follows the crew "F" for "Freddie", a Vicker's Wellington medium bomber (Millerton Station, Group 33), through an entire low level night mission attacking an oil storage depot at a rail yard. The film highlights the participation of not only servicemen from all classes from around the British Isles, but also Canadians and a navigator that sounds a lot like an American RAF volunteer.

The film exemplifies the understatement, dry humor, and "business as usual" approach typical of British information films of the period, along with a clear "get the job done" attitude.

We've done two of these so far and they have been sweaty palms edge of your seat affairs.

This one holds the promise of extra challenge with the uber helicopter on anphetamines and steriods SpitV that remarkably turns 10 year old just out of the box noobs into contenders.

 The answers to your questions would be yes and yes. And, yup, that was (is) fun.

 Was actually thinking of DL'ing the newest version here after vacation in a couple of weeks and giving it a shot again. If I do, I'll give you a yell here. At the very least I can be bait/ target  for yall for a couple of weeks.

 There's an actual late war 450th skin there done by our own Dadman.Too cool to see the formation in that! The last 2 frames of the last S3 (Pony Boys) we flew in the 484th BG skin in honor of Rossco's dad who actually flew with the 484th.
