This was originally posted as a response to a AHII bug post on the 190-A5, but since it's intentional it should really be discussed over here:

I'll say!

I logged on for my first flight, took up a D-9, immediately lost my left wing pulling out of first dive. I'm sure Mars appreciated the proxy kill.

Went to the TA and started testing some planes. This is by no means comprehensive, just the ones I had time for.

Planes that rip wings on a 390mph 6G+ pull out of a dive:
 
190 D-9, 190 A-5, Typhoon, Mossy (snif), P-47, F6F, Tempest.

Planes that won't rip a wing no matter how hard I try:

P-51, P-38, La-5, La-7, C205, Spit V.

Since my favorite three rides all rip wings on a pull out, I have to re-think my options.

FM change to the P-47-40:

While testing the P-47- 40 (25% fuel) for wing ripping, I noticed as I was climbing out on WEP it was climbing at 3750 fps. Holy Cow, that's as good as a Spit IX! And it stayed at 3750 until I levelled out at 10K. If this is for real and not a AHII patch mistake, it changes the FM of the P-47 quite a bit.

the d40 climb rate has been like that since ah2.. it climbs well once you get rid of the extra weight.   It was an underrated bird in ah1 but has become even better in ah2.

you do realize that taking off 75% of the fuel is 277.5 gallons less, right?

just for comparison, the entire 100% fuel load of the 109G10 is 106 gallons.

Thanks for the replies. I have hardly flown the P-47 since AHII came out and didn't realize this was a change going back to the first of AHII.

Now if the wings wouldn't pop off after a meteroic dive...

Yeah, with that much horsepower up fron the jug should climb that well when it's light.  The tradeoff is that when it's heavy, well, its HEAVY.   :D  

I'm not sure about the wing ripping, I'll have to go test it.  I've become a jug dweeb (thanks, Nopoop  ;) )  and have been flying the D25 a ton lately and did so last night as well.  The one hop I flew I pulled some pretty high g's coming out of 400mph+ dives and I wasn't even getting the sound effect for the airframe being stressed.  Maybe the D40's FM is different?  I don't know, but I'm gonna check this out.  There's no way a jug's wing should rip easier than a pony's.

Pyro posted in the bugs forum that the wing ripping issue will be fixed in the next patch.

The updated list:

Planes that rip wings easily:

190 D-9, 190 A-8, 190 A-5, Typhoon, Mossy (snif), P-47, F6F, Tempest, C-47, Niki, Hurri IIC, F4U-1C, 262.  

B-24, Lancaster, and too some degree the B-17.

Planes that won't rip a wing no matter how hard I try:

P-51, P-38, La-5, La-7, C205, Spit V.
