you need at least 512, perferrably 768 or 1024. iwent from 512, with which i had stutters and in general system slowdowns running ah2, to 768 and things improved greatly.

well i use to have a p2 computer with 128 i played with but it  became umplayable so now i play on a 860mhz p3 use to play with 128 ram on here to. then i was thinking and came up with the idea to try adding ram from p2..well it worked, game usually does "ok" for me considering everything im running is old, and i guess you could say my 64mb vid card i run it with is small to but i get a FR of about 20 in a fight sometimes 30, when i look up it will go to 80 or so sometimes...........but all of a sudden i get new patch and soon as i log on often it locks up. :( lately i have only been able to exit AH by choice but i havent had the problem like this before, and when it locks up it plays whatever the sound was that it froze up on over and over....the other  day a squady says yeah and it kept saying yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah and then i noticed my computer was froze lol......so i have no clue but it has only happened since new patch which im sure i said about 5 times now

Did you try sending Skuzzy a copy of your DxDiagnostic report?  Its going to be hard to diagnose your problem with only the information you have given.  I can see a half dozen possible reasons just in the little bit of info you have posted.  For instance........

You said your video card is 64MB, and I'm assuming its no newer than anything else in your computer?  Is it a GeForce 2 model?  Some others with that card have posted problems.  If it was running before the patch then its probably a cheaper model GF 4.  What sound card do you have, and are the drivers updated?  Have you tried turning down the hardware acceleration?  Thats a common source of problems like what you are describing.  Pyro listed bugs in the latest news announcement with the Spit that can cause boots, but I dont think it causes lockups like what you are experiencing.  Also check for IRQ conflicts and sharing.  What OS are you using?  AH is highly processor dependent, and its going to be rough for a P3 to handle it, esp. when you are using an older model VP with low amounts of RAM.  Its not impossible but you need everything else working right.  Might want to check that memory too.  Just because it is recognized and works for less intense applications doesnt mean its working good.  With computers, as with anything else, your system will only run as fast as the slowest component.

My first guess would be soundcard related.  But you really need to send in your DX Diagnostic and have Skuzzy look at it. Almost all the questions I asked above can be answered there, and the ones that cant you can deal with after you've ruled out the simple stuff.

Zoldemite, Make sure preload to system and preload to vid mem are not checked.
Also drop down to 128 max tex size.

Also make sure disable skins is checked.

If you have preload to system memory turned on. Turn it off.

With the little RAM you have, you will have none left. Causeing lockups.

Crash happy new system...

"I've got a friend..."  that has a new ASUS 8X7N Deluxe Nforce2, AMD 3000xp, 1gig of decent RAM, 6800GT and he gets constant lockups (game freezes, can't get back to desktop).  he's using the on board sound and doesn't have the ASUS mixer loaded, but other than that everything seems to be up to date (not overclocked).  I've got pretty much the same rig (512mb RAM and Audigy 2 sound card) and its flawless.  He has been able to play for extended periods as gunner in bombers, but when he flys as bomber pilot it crashes in 5 minutes or so, and as gunner when the flight ends his system crashes.  Fighter seems to do ok.  Any ideas?
