Boroda, just an idea here......can the Russian gov't put that man on the international wanted list? If that can be done, it just might change enough things here to be able to either deport him or hand him over to you guys.

in the cold war that was not only acceptable but status quo.  Today that's a different story.  If you think the US invasion of Iraq is the same as the soviets invasion of afganistan I think you are wrong plain and simple.

Imagine USSR and Warsaw Pact bombing UK because of the "ethnic cleansings" against IRA terrorists...

I have no clue what you are reffering to BUT....

it seems like every nationality on this board here needs to be reminded every now and then that their country's hands are not clean....NO ONES!  Almost every country has a black cloud in their history so I don't know were anyone has the room to talk.

My statment about the cold war is true though.  The US and Soviets never really faught directly but rather by showing support to third partys that opposed the other.  To me it's no different than Soviet "advisors" in N. Veitnam and N. Korea during both of those wars.

Like I said it's irrelevent to the current topic

Its not the same. The goverment of Afganistan invited the Soviets in.

If you want to compare apples to apples:

South Vietnam invited the states in as well.

Pongo the whole statement was in realtion to a comment about the US giving Stingers to afgans during the conflict.  My argument is that is a different time than now...IE status quo.

I wasn't comparing afganistan circa russian invasion to now

I can enlighten you about quite different era :
first recorded big military confrontations between the Russian army and the militant Muslims date back to the IX century A.D. Since those times the Russians learned a lot about these guys, but not enough to be able to fully stop them.
And BTW I've heard there are some big problems for the prosecution at Slobodan Milosevich trial.
How nice! The guy has spent in jail more years than most of the Nazi criminals, and it appears that he may be not guilty at all. (I don't believe that the judges will let him off the hook anyway, because otherwise they would have to find the persons actually responsible for the deaths of thousands of people in Jugoslavia, and that may lead too far away, even overseas from Europe).

Genozaur, Milochevich's "trial" looks very much the same as Georgy Dimitrov's process in 1936. The only difference is that nazis have let the press watch the trial and Dimitrov openly spoke there, unlike European "democracies" who shut Miloshevich down because it was obvious that he wins "propaganda warfare".
