Why did you guys steal the name football?  Why not just call it Handball?

The reason its called a "Football is not because the foot comes in contact with it but because its length is 1 foot long.

If we were to be accurate about Soccer it would be called "Kick ball"

To be there and experience it is how you should judge a sport.

im guessing college american football is the best to watch as they are trying to make a name for themselves and do not have all the commercial influence like the POS superbowl has.

Bring it on over Furball. In fact the best football is youth and high school football. I have coached American football from college down to youth and love the youth and high school side. You get to work with kids and teach them much more than you get to do in college. If you could swing it we might be able to get in several different types of games to let you experience many different levels.

What is primarily done with it?
Its "kicked"

Kickball by far is easily the most accurate discription.

that is the real deal.. that and college mentioned elsewhere.

college is total drunken abandon by co-eds, and tons of yelling / partying.

pro football, well most rabid fans have grown up with a team and hold a "personal" connection with it.

here in wisconsin the packers ar "We" or "us" like everyone in the state is on the team.

watching the local game in a super crowded sports bar drinking at noon on a sunday is awsome too.

the fact there are almost NO riots and stuff leads me tobelieve a soccer game might be a bit more "rowdy" in the stands. here at a football game like the packers for example, all the tickets are season ticket holders, with a 60,000+ person waiting list (approx 65 years or more wait for tickets).

there are very few opposing fans at a game. if there are then the local team is not really popular, and the "fans" are just sticking it out.
I don't know what to put here yet.

You are right about one thing. Soccer is worshiped like a religeon.

Fans die in the stands over it and everything.
Riots break out.

Your right it is alot like relegion.

Haveta hand it another one.
Soccer is the only game in existance where the fans are rougher and tougher then the players

Like I said in another thread.
Soccer is great if your under 7 years old (at which point you can start playing pop warner football)

OR if you wear a dress.

Or if your mommy wont let you play football (american style)

OR Rugby for you euros

That is the false attitude which is why it is not popular in america.

The fact that it is a "sissy" sport.

If you have ever actually played it to a decent level, watched a decent game, you will realise it is not.

Funny how you can call it a "sissy" sport when it is a contact sport, and 2 of the most popular sports in america are non contact sports.
