For perception, here is the donations to America after 9/11. Anyone want to take a guess how much foreign aid poured into the US?

I wasn't speaking specifically to you.  We have 5.5% unemployed in the U.S., I was speaking to that 94.5% that could give up a couple packs of smokes, or whatever, to contribute.

In the end, it is not what your goverment gives or what you pay in tax: In the end it is what you give, by heart.

(I will not start a debate on who is giving what and what kind of amounts, it is not relevant in this case, sorry.)

FWIW, Swedes alone have so far donated 40 million and the Gov't 70 million. (9 million citizens live in sweden)

Merry Christmas to you too!

Excellent on the Swedish donations!

We've not yet calculated the Corporate donations, many with matching $$ to those donated by citizens. That number will be out later in January (primarily to the rebuilding of the devastated areas)

I see a good rivalry forming on how much we can donate, thats a good thing for getting the lives of these survivors back on track!

Dont compare people that have litterary nothing to start with, with the bigest economies in the world.
So, you advice people not to give anything to help these people out, because they gave you nothing at 9/11?
Give me a break will ya, Rip.

Uhh, negative.  Just an interesting tidbit I found when reading about the UN complaining about the US not giving enough when France had only given $136,000 (on that day of the report)

I've already given $500.  We're starting a drive for more $$ in our organization on Monday within the company I work for too.

FWIW, charity is tax deductible here in the U.S.

WTG on your donation!

Hey, even if everyone donated $1 in America, that would be over $260 million!  I'm making up for some of the guys that say their taxes cover it. ;)

But now that I've said I've donated, that means I'm just trying to draw attention to myself and I'm a braggart. Just ask Nash and Stringer!

i know you weren't... i am employed, but at a terribly wage.... and i know many in my situation.

it just perturbs me that i am not a "goiod person" if i can't give money to strangers. he11 i gave $1 to salvation army whuile Christmas shopping.

it was the only cash i had, all gifts bought on a tweaked credit card at 24%.

what can i say
I don't know what to put here yet.

My wife and I can usually find a way to give *something* even though we dont have alot ourselves. This time I am afraid we might not be able to help. The youngest one has outgrown all of her pajamas (AGAIN!), the truck needs parts, bleh.....but we'll see, we might find a way yet :)

Patrone, do not despair if we give only nickels and dimes.
We'll give them by the shipload.

The USA takes her lumps and remembers the insults.  When it comes to disaster relief, we give and give. Still, to our critics it is never enough.

We will rush to the aid of the area, do more than our share, and be villified for it in about ever country who voices an opinion.  It stings, but we'll do it again.

Not wanting really to bash you on this one Steve. I have answers to your statments, but I choose not to deliver them. This is not a debate about who gives what.

I give from what I have, if I didnt have anything, I could not give.
