Ground Detail
« on: January 25, 2005, 12:14:22 PM »
I had AH1 installed so i decided to play it with my new videocard and i got about 40 - 50 FPS. now for me thats awesome since i have a bad low end computer! I realized one of the big differences was the ground.  In AH1 it did look pretty good but i believe in AH2 its pulling down FPS because of the ground.  I think it would be a good FPS booster if we could adjust the detail of the ground in the Video Settings.

Just a thought

I keep medium vis, short vis, & ground vis on a throttle 3 position switch. I run in medium 99% of the time, switching to short if there's alot of planes, and ground when diving on GV's.

Also, going back & forth from medium & ground vis makes it easier to spot GV's. Switching rapidly makes for little blinking, black dots on the ground. Gamey, but effective.

I thnk it would be a good fps "booster" if you invested in some decent hardware.
No offence, I know not everyone can run out and buy all new parts all the time, but it just errks me to have a game developer keep trying to "dumb down" or "scale back" a game so a few guys with low end systems will be happy.
How the heck is a game ever going to come out of the dark ages
if they keep having to back track.

No different than showing up on grudge night at the dragstrip then asking the officials to tell everyone they need to not tune their cars so well because your old rig doesn't go very fast  ???

Maybe turn all your sliders down or off
