trying to make movies...
« on: April 19, 2005, 02:07:26 PM »
hey guys, i'm trying to make a movie from my ahf's.  If tried running fraps while my film viewer is running and tried the whole 'save as avi' thing to.  I get REAL crappy fram rates trying to play them in windows media player.  what am I doing wrong?  is it my machine?  all i have a laptop and during game play i usually have a high teen fps which i am used to dealing with.  also im trying to keep the clips short (30 sec. max) when saving as avi.

sounds to me like you need a new system anyhow :D

essentially the film making will run as smooth as your game does.

using fraps is good, always remember to capture in the film window, not fullscreen. not totaly sure if this helps but it certainly makes better files on my machine.

and with fraps check the box to ignore sound.

recording the lame film viewer sounds will only take longer, take more system power, and produce lower fps in captured files.

thats all i know.
And I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.

It seems like really only one problem: your system!

It's either time for an upgrade, or time to put your AH movie-making prospects on the shelf.

If ya got any more questions, let us know! -Paul

Just an odd question, are you trying to save as avi AND capture with fraps?  Maybe I am a bit tired :)  Also full screen WILL give you bigger files for the same length of capture but they will also be better than those captured in the window.

If you preview in "best" it will play very slow before rendering.

I dont know what your system specs are but it doesnt take a whole lot to run an avi. film prior to rendering. However, it will not play smoothly if previewed in the highest setting.
