Router Problems
« on: April 19, 2005, 06:38:41 PM »
I finally got the new computer and set it up next to this POS. A friend gave me a D-Link DI-604 Router. So I bolt up the two machines
Neither works.... but while I'm screwing around I discover that the new machine won't even connect when I plug it directly in to the cable modem.
It's running Windows XP with an MSI K8N Neo 4 motherboard.
Any auto firewalls or something I'm missing? I guess I need some software fore the router too.

You have 2 seperate issues....

Your router and your network connection itself. Neither is automatically plug & play. You may need to configure the router and since youcant "see" the internet you either have a configuration issue with the card or you never set up explorer to see the internet connection.

It's not really complicated I have a D-link wireless router and "onboard LAN...took about 20 minutes of reading and configuring to get it all dialed in....

Thanks humble....
I did that... I went to D-Link's site and eventually got it figured out. Damn I hate working on these things anymore.
