I have to admit that made me a bit misty eyed. May there always be an England.

Hey, I have a request. You guys did such a great job with that one, could we have one more?  ... just in case Osama, the Taliban leaders, and Saddam are listening to BBC...

Do you think you could play an old George M. Cohan song, dedicated to Bin Laden, the Taliban  and Hussein at the next Changing of the Guard?

Chorus goes like this:

"Over there, over there,
Send the word, send the word over there--
That the Yanks are coming,
The Yanks are coming,
The drums rum-tumming
Ev'rywhere.
So prepare, say a pray'r,
Send the word, send the word to beware.
We'll be over, we're coming over,
And we won't come back till it's over
Over there.
"

Won't be to Europe this time; we've got another locale in mind.

Thanks in advance!

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

When I saw this on the news tonight, I must admit that it truly brought a tear to my eye.

Thank you people of the UK.  You really touched not only my heart, but those of my fellow countrymen.

Dang forum bug...

But I guess I can add something relevant to this... Tomorrow has been declared a national day of mourning in Canada. The same type of ceremony will be taking place in our nation's capital. Kinda nice to see the world come together like this.

Today, Friday 14 September there was a 3 minute silence held at 11:00am BST (GMT+1) started by the Queen of England.

This would have been held at all government, military establishments, and all schools etc. in Great Britain, plus all the millions that wished to take part in this rememberance.

Salute all

Today 13/9/2001 at 12:00 Rome timezone (11:00 GMT).

All activity has stopped and a silence has been mantained for 3 minutes for a remembrance and a pray for the lifes lost by the humankind.

It wasn't derogatory, it is a matter of slang - if you noticed it was signed 'Cockneys' which is a term used for real Londoners.  i.e. their slang for Americans was signed by their slang for Londoners.
