X52 functions
« on: May 10, 2005, 12:30:06 PM »
howdy all, has anyone figured out a way to use the clutch button on the x52? Ive got it to work by leaving the windows control panel open with the test page up, then alt tabing into AH and setting the function that way , but as soon as i close the windows CP it loses the function and goes back to a profile changer . So for you guys that can write code or scripts, do you think there's away to hack the stick to make it think the control panel is up? LOL wishful thinking right? . The other things ive found are that the three buttons under the little screen on the throttle are mappable in AH, they actually come in handy for 3 extra commands . also i have the mini stick BANDED, and that gives me 4 extra buttons.I have the wheel button mapped along with the minstick button mapped in AH as well . there are alot of things you can find when messing with the profiler , If any of you guys have any little tips or hints id be glad to hear them 38

I just disabled the clutch function altogether (need the newest drivers to do that), and turned on the 'pinky trigger' shift function.  I have the most commonly used functions programmed in the unshifted mode, and the lesser used functions in shift mode.  I don't even need to enable MODE2 or MODE3 ingame OR using the stick switch.

Here's what I have:

Throttle Assignments:

REAR THROTTLE HAT:

LEFT:           CENTER TrackIR           SHIFT + LEFT:   Full View Mode
RIGHT:   TrackIR ON/OFF      SHIFT + RIGHT:   Ground View Mode
DOWN:   Flaps Down/Downshift   SHIFT + DOWN:   Unused
UP:           Flaps Up/Upshift           SHIFT + UP:   Unused

SCROLLWHEEL:         Zoom In/Out
SHIFT +:            Zoom map In/Out
SCROLLWHEEL BUTTON:   Zoom On/Off
SHIFT +:            Map On/Off

THROTTLE BUTTON "E" (Big Top Button):   Check Six Call
SHIFT +:            Show Damage List

Trim around "E":         PROP SPEED (RPM)

THROTTLE BUTTON "D":      Look UP
SHIFT +:            Look Down

SLIDER LEFT 33%:      Internal View
SLIDER MIDDLE 33%:      External View
SLIDER RIGHT 33%:      God View

THROTTLE BUTTON "i" (Clutch):   RANGE VOX

Trim around "i":         Unused

MOUSE BUTTON:         Set Auto-Trim
SHIFT +:            Toggle Fuel Tank

MOUSE:
LEFT:   Trim Rudder Left                SHIFT + LEFT:   Auto Level
RIGHT:   Trim Rudder Right        SHIFT + RIGHT:   Combat Trim
UP:   Trim Elevator Down        SHIFT + UP:   Auto Climb Angle
DOWN:   Trim Elevator Down    SHIFT + DOWN:   Auto Speed Hold

Stick Assignments:

MAIN TRIGGER FIRST CLICK:      Fire Primary (MG)
SHIFT +:                    Fire Secondary (Cannon)
MAIN TRIGGER SECOND CLICK:   Fire ALL
SHIFT +:                    Fire ALL
(If in the panic of having to spray, don't have to put much thought into it)

PINKY TRIGGER:            Assigned as SHIFT

BUTTON "A":            Wep On/Off

BUTTON "B":            Landing Gear Up/Down
SHIFT +:                    Landing Hook Up/Down

BUTTON "C":            Channel VOX
SHIFT +:                    Opens VOX Box
   NOTE:   Pressing sends "/"
      Releasing sends <ENTER>

BUTTON "FIRE":            Open/Close Bay Doors
SHIFT +:                    EJECT/Chute
NOTE:   Holding for two seconds sends <ENTER><ENTER><ENTER>
      Releasing opens chute

MODE SWITCH:            Unused

TOP HAT:
LEFT:           Gunner Pos 1      SHIFT + LEFT:   Plane #1
UP:           Gunner Pos 2      SHIFT + UP:   Plane #2
RIGHT:   Gunner Pos 3      SHIFT + RIGHT:   Plane #3
DOWN:   Gunner Pos 4      SHIFT + DOWN:   Unused

BOTTOM HAT:
LEFT:     Look Left
UP:           Look Forward+Up
RIGHT:   Look Right
DOWN:   Look Down
NOTE:   I can use this in combination with the throttle "D" button
shifted or not, to use view combinations.  It was more commonly
used before getting my TrackIR, but still sees a lot of use in GVs

TOGGLE SWITCH 1/2:
UP:   Engine On/Off              SHIFT + UP:   End Flight (/.ef<ENTER>)
DOWN:   Unused         SHIFT + DOWN:   (/.speed 200<ENTER>)

TOGGLE SWITCH 3/4:
UP:   Unused                 SHIFT + UP:   (/.salvo 1<ENTER>)
DOWN:   Unused         SHIFT + DOWNL   (/.salvo 2<ENTER>)

TOGGLE SWITCH 5/6:
UP:   Unused                 SHIFT + UP:   (/.salvo 6<ENTER>)
DOWN:   Unused         SHIFT + DOWN:   (/.salvo 14<ENTER>)

All of the commands that can be mapped in game are.  The ones that can't be are mapped
to single keystrokes (or macros) from within the SST Software.  I've found that when
sending a MACRO command (such as .ef<ENTER>), you have to put a slight pause between
each 'keystroke'... like .2 seconds... otherwise the game won't always pick it up
properly.

I'm sure I have the unused commands mapped to SOMETHING, but they get used
so infrequently that I can't recall exactly what at this time.  The three buttons
below the display are also mapable, but I can't find a practical use for them just yet.

And of course, this is always a work in progress.  If you can think of any improvements
feel free to let me know.

This is why I love the forums so much... I had no idea I could override that stupid clutch button - and until two days ago I didn't even realize there was a scroll wheel (just found out 30 seconds ago that you can click the scroll wheel too)

but the icing on the cake: overriding the timer buttons on the throttle... that's going to be awesome!

What do you guys use the toggles on the base of the stick for? I can't think of a good use for them because they require you to let go of the stick... I see that Tigger leaves most of his unassigned as well.

I use T1/T2 T5/T6 for 'engine select 1/2/3/4'.  T3 is for 'select all engines'.  T4 is 'engine on/off'.

Ahh, see I have my flaps set on the throttle hat... I used to have them on the "top" stick hat - but since I use the twist-stick for rudder it was too difficult to hit the flaps in a fight and continue to rudder smoothly. Now that I know the clutch button can be mapped, the clutch is my secondary weapon select button, and my "top" stick hat is waiting for a new job.

I don't have any views setup on my stick anymore. When I first got my TrackIR - I left the views on my hat switch as a backup, but I'm comfortable with the TrackIR now so my main stick hat switch is for pitch/roll trim.

Like most people, I don't use TrackIR for GV's, so the views are still set on my stick in "Mode 2".

I may setup "Mode 3" for use in bombers. Without views on my stick I can't look around in external view mode without reaching for the keypad...

That's a good use. I haven't really flown many aircraft that would require individual engine usage just yet - but I'll definitely keep that in mind when I start learning to fly the 38.

i have the front hat on throttle for flaps(up-down) and have left to right to adjust elevator when combat trim is off.
Have the timer buttons set for damage, combat trim on and off. I also have it set to use 3 modes 2 for planes 1 for gv's. With the stick mapped in 2 modes  i have double the views on my hat switches. I use the pinky switch to switch between view 1 and 2 and remapped spacebar to get to gv mode 3.

try the A & B button for the flaps up/down - I find it handy there in a t&b

also a up view on the throttle hat is a big help for me as is setting the LF /RF on that hat instead of a stick hat. my stick view hat is only a 4 way as it is easier for me to use a combo of buttons to view the 45's front and rear.
