Does anyone else have a problem with the wife that they INSIST on letting the kids use/play with expesive stuff that you own.

My wife just let our daughter (5 years old) take pictures with my digital camera near the pool (she's grounded from the pool today cause she dumped sand in it yesturday) and she dropped it in.

WHY?

I'm not mad at my daughter cause it was a total accident and her mom gave her permission.....WTF though.  Why does she need to let kids that have a huge track record of breaking things (kids will be kids) use an expensive (yes expensive/valuable to ME) camera

She lets them play with her cell phone among other things and I ask her ALL the time not to.  It's never HER that has to pay for this stuff ITS ME

maybe your wife wanted you to spend more time with her than the camera?

dock the wife's allowance until it is paid off

-or- make the wife "work" off the debt ; )
I don't know what to put here yet.

maybe the wife needs to spend more time with the child instead of providing distractions instead of the attention the child needs

or learn to tell the child no when she asks to play with something a 5 year old has no biz using as a toy

yep, dump the wife :)

no currently I'm on 6 days of "use or lose" leave.  We spend plenty of time together.  Ruining the camer only pisses me off to the point of I don't want to be around her or the kids because I'm angry and don't want to take it out on them.

Ah.. the father of my A510 think. I belive the camera had a very strudy design, but it was the way it landed that killed it. The lens was out and the fall forced it in just enough to ruin it.

Sad, but the good thing is that I wont get static from the missus for forgetting the cam if we go somewere anymore ;)

Never met a woman yet that didn't understand a kick in the bellybutton or a slug from a .45

:)

I'd go pull her jewlrey box off her dresser and hand it to the kid to play with.

Mommy will get the message. If not, see paragraph 1.

yes but when you don't have a camera at the ready and currently can't afford to replace it you tend to miss some really good pictures of your kids :(

Make a dollar limit on what the kids can play with. Anything over it gets broken and she has to pay for it out of her dough. Yeah, it's gonna come out of your pocket in the long run, but maybe it will make her start to value your side of the deal and cut down on the breakage.
