Big wheel or Green machine?
« on: July 29, 2005, 04:00:04 PM »
Which had more torque, The Big wheel, Or The green Machine?
As I recall the larger front wheel on big wheel made climb perfomance somewhat poor. Climbing hills that is.

The "Big Wheel"  IMO didn't have the torque OR the climb of the "Green Machine" However, the Big Wheel made up for these short comings in a lower center of gravity for cornering and a much more effecient hand brake!

You decide ?

Cheetah.

Just the name brings PHEER into lesser riders of the Big Wheel and the Green Machine.  It was the perk ride of the 70's.  Nothing could touch it.  It was the fastest, baddest, coolest looking of all riding toys.  If you showed up in a Cheetah at the meet with the neighborhood kids, you were guaranteed an audience with the hot chick.  Ahhhh...memories.

Problem with the Big Wheel was its GG was too far aft.  There wasnt enough weight to transfer avalible toruqe to the front wheel.  However it had good low speed handling.

You guys use the same words and matter-of-fact style for talking about aircraft as you do plastic trikes... :rofl

What was the namer of the kiddie toy where you had to big wheels on either side of you which you grasped and turned by hand. If I reacal it right it had 2 small casters and it could pivot and spin in place. I think it had a yellow plastic body and 2 big red wheels.  Any ideas or is my description of a 3o year old toy to
vague?

Thanks Arty

In addition, you could remove the seat from the Big Wheel for so can stand up and use your legs to pump for freestyle tricks like wheelies and off curb lip jumps.

Yah I remember that thing.

The Big wheel has returned. It's been revamped & upgraded, black & grey. Couldn't bring up link & photos. Perhaps someone else can.

I think Arty was referring to this, while it is an excellent turner, it lacks heavily in speed and stability
