Author Topic: How to save the zoom magnification? (Read 503 times)

Hi,

I have struggled with this for some time and realized I will never figure this out without asking. How can you save the amount of 'zoom' (i.e. when you press the zoom button, the level of magnification). Each time I log on, I must reset the amount of zoom using the [ and ] keys. Any clues are much appreciated.

F10 where u like it. Saves head position.

I don't think that saving the zoom by using the [ and ] keys is possible.

You just zoom to where you like it and hit F10.

Ex: You start at your standard veiw. Hit "Z" button to zoom in. Use the [ and ] keys to adjust that. Once you find the spot you like hit F10.

I tried saving zoom magnification using F10. F10 doesn't save the zoom magnification. I am thinking that the default zoom magnification value is some setting in a configuration file.

Do you mean saving it permanently between sessions, or just inside the game?

The zoom function does "save," I think, just by use. When you toggle zoom on, it will zoom to the degree it sat when last used. Naturally, this mostly happens when you were last in a gv at max zoom for shooting -- and now you want a slightly closer look through your plane gunsight, but you end up seeing just the center dot of your reflector....

As I understand it, zoom is more of a GAME setting and not an individual AIRCRAFT setting. So, I dont beleive you can save it the way you do head positions, with different settings for different planes or gun postions. Zoom applies to views, and to the clipboard map, all with the same degree.

I have my increase/decrease zoom mapped to a pair of joystick buttons, and it works really well for me.

What he said, but keep in mind you must adjust your zoom for every plane.

What I am talking about is when you first enter the game and press z, you get some zoom. That value is always the same. I would like to change that default value. How (or can) you change that value?

Standont, I dont believe that's possible in the game currently.

Fortunately, it's a simple matter to push insert/delete for a second right after you join; from then on the "default" zoom will be set for the remainder of the session.

You guys are talking about every kind of zoom but the one he means..
