Actually, the number of possible pilots is rather low. The fact that the P-38 is actively maneuvering, and also doing so in the vertical, shows that the pilot in question flies the P-38 as a fighter and knows what kind of maneuvers the P-38 is best at. I really don't know many people who fly the P-38 unless they're hauling big ordnance.

I could see where you'd think that cause whoever it is, has been using the CorkyJr P38 flying and dying handbook. But it's an L so it can't be me

If it was a 38G there'd be no question.
