i don't understand, cars are recalled all the time to fix defects, would you rather the problems were not fixed?

Before anyone panics...

Quote
Honda spokesman Sage Marie said there have been no crashes or injuries linked to the issue in the popular-selling vehicle.

The “vast majority” of the 25,298 vehicles under recall in the United States have not yet been sold, Marie said.

I wish the Durango or Ford SUV recalls had been so tidy and timely.

25,000 is nothing.  I've seen ACRES of vehicles when GM discovers a flaw on the line after they are already built and puts a hold on them at the yard.  Holds can go on for months, as vehicles are repaired one at a time.  Then just let somebody screw up the paperwork releasing ones that havent been fixed yet.  Talk about nightmares. 2-3 holds a year plus various minor recalls were common.

I have always been impressed with the speed of recalls done by the foreign auto makers.

The U.S. automakers have to have some deaths happen, an act of Congress, and billions in lawsuits before recalling, unless it only costs a few pennies per car to recall/fix.  Then you find out they knew it all along.  Single biggest reason why I will never own an American made vehicle.

Well when they can make a better truck than Ford I might think about it.
But so far all the full size trucks from the japanese makers are a joke.

We have had two recalls on our nissan one year apart both for the same thing.

Front tire wear they have replaced out front tires twice no charge<>S
Ford screwed the pooch with there explorer fiasco but they still make the best fullsize IE: real trucks.

Now if I was in the market for a small truck Toyota would get my dollar.

Mazda used to have a great small truck untill ford bought em out and replaced the b2000 with a ford ranger with different fenders.

I had a 1988 mazda b2000 and the only thing in 90.000 miles I had to change was the tires and brake pads tough little buggy it was.

I quote Bud Anderson's book, "To Fly and Fight" :

"I had lived and my opponent had died. But it was a near thing. It could have been the other way around just as easily, and what probably made the difference was the airplane I flew. Made in America. I would live to see the day when people would try to tell me the United States can't make cars like some other folks do. What a laugh."

That about sums up how I feel about those people who think US cars are somehow inferior to German ubermobiles or Japanese sardine cans--what a joke.

They don't actually recall the whole car, you just bring it in for a fix.

Automobile recalls are commonplace today as "Schedule" has superceded "Quality" in manufacturing.   Get them out the door on schedule come hell or high water, we'll fix it later...

Wait till Japan releases the automobile called the Zero. We already have the Mustang so they wont last 5 minutes on the roads before being shot down into the ditch :D
