Which planes/why?

I'm kind of with Furball on this one. Just about any plane that fits my style I'll try. My choice is much more situational than anything else.

For patrols lately I've been in the Yak9 and La5 a bunch. Either P51 is my "go to" plane, depending on ENY. I used to be in the 190D9 and A5 a lot. If I'm in a weird mood I'll use a D11 or 205. Depends somewhat on the odds and if I have squadies around or not.

The 110G for Jabo or towns ... or a Mosi ... depending on if ORD is up.

F6F off the carriers ... or the F4U-1D.

For base defense ... the field gun as often as not :D - love killing pork-dweebs and also lets me send check-6's to people. Otherwise I up a Ki84, N1K, La5, Yak9 ... IL2 or A20 if FH's are down.

All time favorite fighter: Yak-9U.  Fast, agile, and deadly even with a limited amount of ammo.

Bombers:  B-17, B-26 for their durability. (my #1 CV sinker).  KI-67 for thier speed at altitude and the 20mm top turret against those pesky 262's.:aok

BNZ is more or less an aerial joust as fast as your plane can go without flying apart (ok, maybe more complicated than that, but that's about the gist of it).

E-fighting is managing airspeed and altitude (thus, energy) to get a shooting position. Probably closer to a true "dogfight" than the stall-speed turnfight.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

well to keep it short, got to head out to the in laws grandparents dinner stuff.........

BnZ is basic diving in at a high speed pass hoping to saddle up in the pocket an obtain a firing solution then zooming back out and extending, most truly extend way way to far.......

E-Fighting - short answer, is a combination between BnZ & Turn/angles fighting , knowing when to extend , when to burn some E, or retain & manage your E, all the while making your opponent use up ALL his E, learning what to look for, how to drag, spiral up on someone, make them flounder or just reverse on them and get them in an overshoot........E -Management..........some players here rule in this department, I am not one of them, but it is the elite way to approach an engagement with your enemy.........fly your fight and not his, make him do things that is his weakness for his particular type of plane all the while staying in the flight envelope of your particular ride.......sorry for hurried response got to get Merry Merry...........

All of it is important; most of it vital; and all of it just too much for one brain to absorb in 1-2 lessons" TC

P.S. If it'll make you feel better you're exactly correct. That won't make a bit of difference though, you're still going to get crucified and strung up by your apple with thumb tacks and barbed wire.

I wouldn't walk to your car alone at night from the OC after a day of Fightering, the stallfighting BBS bullies will be waiting for you with baseball bats. They'll pound your skull in and leave you for dead for merely suggesting that anything other than a 150 mph merry-go-round on the deck in a Spit is a "Fight" at all.

Buff hunting is another unique category, with buff's turbo lazers you can't just engage them in any old plane and have any chance of success.
