RPS - me either. I never understood why it was never even tried. When you bring it up most look at you like you said you REALLY DO like barnyard animals over Women! :D  While it would involve a lot of work on the CT Staff I wouldn't mind it for a month trial. I kind of enjoyed it when we were over in Warbirds.
Only downside of it is for the people who like one plane-set over another or historically based squadrons would have to go a month without being able to fly their planes. If we did do a trial suggest it is with a ETO theme.

As for a two week stretch for set-ups - I would have to vote NO. If we aren't going to have a RPS then a week is plenty with one set-up for the reasons explained above.

Bug you need to get Squire and the rest of the 880 crew off it's collective "CAN" and get back to squad flying in the CT with the rest of us!

Most Allied squads go for a month without seeing their favorite planes anyway. LW squads will always have a 109, and usually a FW-190. Thats a must. However since I've been back the most common Allied plane in each setup has been the Spit V. I rather know my favorite plane was coming and when.

If they do a trial and people like it. I also don't see a problem using all Allied, and Axis planes in a RPS. Otherwise with the lower number of Italian, and Japanese planes your going to have a hard time seeing them , or the USN/USMC, in an RPS.

I also like the idea of centering some setups around the historical squads that fly in there, kinda help make people feel at home, enpowered, appreciated and heard.  Also in the name of giving fair shakes, the non historical squads would get thier chance at spelling out a setup, possibly one that centers around thier squad's "style" or "personality".  Just an idea and admitedly not well thought out.  But nonetheless I would appreciate the feedback.

Again I am not on the staff, so this information would be just for my own personal curiosity.  I don't know maybe I'm seeing things wrong or I'm off my rocker, but I just see so much more potential for the CT.  Does anybody else share this opinion.

I also have to place this disclaimer here:  This is not a knock at anyone or a claim that the staff is falling short, so please don't take it that way.  It is purely contructive and an attempt to produce a dialogue.  I know I have attempted it many times before and always seem to hit a brick wall, but I'm not giving up! :)

Bug, good suggestions as always.

Because of this, we're discussing an RPS month now.

Biggest problem I foresee is the same one that militates against running a setup for two weeks, and that is that many will get bored with what they perceive to be essentially the same plane set.  You could probably do a search of this BBS and find some good examples of what I'm talking about ("Hey, it's Friday AFTERNOON already and the plane set hasn't changed!  Why don't you losers wake up and get off the stick?").

Setups based on one squad could be fun; the complaint will be that that side is restricted to too few planes.  My own feeling is that the Very Limited Plane Set weeks we've had have been some of the finest, but I do remember the howls.

My bet is that we'll try most of these things.  Keep the suggestions coming.

Some of you ex-Warbirds guys refresh my memory. Was the map set up strictly a ETO or PTO of were different aircraft available on different sides of the map? Somehow it seems like it was.

For some reason I remember when we were flying LW planes with JG-51 the 27th Sentai also had their Japanese planes available at the same time.

That might be a solution - have certain planes available on each side of the map. Though I don't know how it would be for any new fields captured. Going to be a lot of work and monitoring for the CT Crew.

Jester.
The first time they did it, they split the map with LW, and Japanese being on the edges, and Allies in the middle. That didnt seem to work, so they just enabled all axis, and all allied, at each field.

I left because my squad left ( 880 Fleet Air Arm), we're a pretty close knit group and decided that the CT just wasn't the place for us any more.   We are a historically minded squad and found the CT's level of administration, maturity and respectfulness of the players plummetted to levels we couldn't tolerate.  We moved on to another game as a group, but still keep a close eye on the CT forum in hope that someday it will straighten itself out.   Something we still hope for,  knowing that the true power of change lies within the hands of the players instead of solely the company that provides the game.  So we watch and wait and hope that someday the right people, with the right ideas, get into the right place.  Of course what we find to be "right" might be a big turn off to some players, but we're selfish that way. :)

But I still believe fixing the CT as a solid Historical arena, may end up chasing away half the current CT fliers, but in the long term will populate the arena with larger numbers and greater maturity level and solid community.  Although I may be speaking on behalf of the squad, I believe it is a truth that when that day comes we will all come back.

Oldman and Slash and thank you for considering my suggestions, enjoy your weekend.

Currently we fly Squad Public Co-Ops in Il-2/Pacific Fighters and also fly in one of their dogfight arenas a couple nights a week.  Personally I enjoy the sim alot but I am definitely interested in getting back into the "community" aspect of a MMPOG.

I'm with you there. I'd like to see more of an Hostorical Arena myself. As it is now no matter what you do you'll get griped at.  " Why you carrying bombs"? " Why are you so high" ? " How come you won't furball my TnB plane with your BnZ plane"? Or my all time favorite comments are where the guy you shoot down proceeds to tell you how you did everything wrong once he's dead. Plus add to the this the guys that actually tell you what you need to fly. It's pretty much the Dudley Duelright arena at times.:aok

I played online with pacific fighters in hyperlobby for a month or so.  Although I enjoyed the graphics and atmospherics tremendously, I disliked the overall "feel" of the FMs...I couldn't easily distinguish the different flight characteristics of the different planes and all the engines seemed to have the same sound.  The part I hated the most was the pitifull performance of the browning .50s
Cannons did very very well, but the 50s were almost entirely useless.

I tired of it rather quickly.  But there were people that were enjoying themselves, thats for sure.
======================================================
I used to fly the CT almost exclusively before my recent return to AH and I have to admit some of the regulars there are definately vocal about how they feel others should behave and perform.  Its all part of the routine but the thing I am most worried about is this attitude that the CT is the place of choice for one on one duels.

When Im in game, I will attack at the moment of my choosing.  If you are in the game and are on the opposing team, expect that I will attack you whenever I am in a position to do so.

If folks want to duel each other then they should move to the dueling arena.

Thanks.
