Weird issues with new rig
« on: January 08, 2006, 05:57:44 PM »
I've been flying AH on and off for a few years, using three different PCs.  I've never had any problems to speak of, but with my new rig, I can't get off the ground (literally).

The pertinent parts of my system:

AMDX2 4800+
A8N32-SLI motherboard (nForce 4)
eVGA 7800GTX 256 MB (two, in SLI configuration)
2GB PC 3500 RAM
350 GB 3BG/sec SATA hard drive
Windows XP Pro
CH Control Manager 4.0
CH Fighterstick/Pro Throttle/Pro Pedals

When I get to the point of seeing the clipboard, the "left" page rotates about its upper right-hand corner, almost like a propeller.  There is nothing I can do to stop this, so it is impossible to pick a plane from the hangar, set convergence, etc.  If I just click fly with whatever plane is selected, I immediately get a "Don't move your controls so rapidly" message and a crash.  The cockpit display is up for just about long enough for me to recognize what it is (i.e., a small fraction of a second) before I'm back in the tower (with the propeller clipboard).

My guess is that the issue has to do either with the dual-core processor or with the SLI configuration.  (The system is new, but I have tested it with a number of other games.)

Anyone have any thoughts?  I haven't spent much time playing around trying to figure it out, but I thought I'd post here to see if anyone has had a similar experience.

Thanks,

JNOV

Well, I searched the forums a bit and found that this is a common problem that has been already identified and solved.  The fix is easy.  See here

Thanks to the folks who tracked this one down!
