Converting .ahf to .avi
« on: January 16, 2006, 03:03:00 AM »
Lets try posting in here and see what happens now :)

I have changed my OS from Windows XP Pro to Windows XP 64 bit and was wondering if anyone else is having difficulty converting .ahf into .avi files? The Film editor just freezes and dies then I sent an 'Error Report'.

Before I was able to convert them, but now I cannot, is it the OS?

If it's not the OS then does anyone know what it is?

Any help will be greatfully received.

That feature never worked for me, so i think its not the OS.
Probably the filmviewer uses some third party encoder and doesnt work if that encoder is not installed, or if the wrong version of that encoder is installed.

Yep, same here.... "Save as AVI" button is considered :t . ;)

Seriously, Steff, give fraps (or some other recording program) a try. Its really a lot easier.

If you need a rundown on how to use it, either do a search in this, H&T and films forum, or shoot me a mail.

Cheers for that guys, but I have tried fraps, it's ok, but I prefer working with .avi in Adobe Premier, just wish they would add .ahf to that little list in Premier. ;)

Will shoot an e-mail off to HT see what they say.

The weird thing is that the AHF viewer worked perfectly well with XP, but now it doesn't with XP64, and it's on exactly the same system.

you tried a full reinstall of the whole game? often sorts out minor isolated bugs.

XP64 uses completely different drivers than the 32 bit version of XP.  Would not surprise me to hear of driver issues in the 64 bit version.
