HTC moderators are a joke
« Reply #75 on: February 16, 2006, 12:55:01 AM »
I agree with ya Blix on a large scale (except for posting here, it is a waste of time)... there are quite a few people that make it past the 'annoying stage' and become down right inflammatory and demeaning to anyone that doesn't agree with them. The problem is that the moderators are not active enough and (to MANY online) seem partial.

I'd suggest the mutes become public so the community can see the policing being done via a system message.

System: Teenager has been muted for foul language.

HTC needs to make an example out of the bad as well as the good characters in the game. Perhaps a 'Hall of Fame' for people who have contributed time and effort to make AH a better place by skinning, making maps, developing scenarios, etc.

I see these misspelled swear words constantly and its obvious that those that use them are seldom muted or warned as they use them over and over.
So is it acceptable or not?
If not why are these words allowed 99% of the time ?

The text filter is another part of the equation that's broken. The filter will not allow you to type "262's hit", as in, "That 262's hit.". However, "why don't u go plowk urself" flies right through. I know because I got muted for "262's hit", and received the latter statement via PM.

I fly in the evenings and late nights, and moderation is extremely lacking during these hours. Maybe more mods, and some adjustments to the filter would improve the situation.

No flame, I'm semi-envious but sort of amazed too.  :)

Why don't they bring back 'country' chanell, and only have people on it who provide HTC with their real life info, and offer that info up to all others who will use that chanell.

No body gets in till info is verified by HTC.

One name per address.

Must be over 18, or with parental(address owner) permission waver.

Something along those lines. Will stop the jerks from bantering and would bring back country for those of us who only used it to say heya to friends on the dark side, or to someone.

I believe in being civil to people & if it weren't for the squelch function & the ability to turn off 200 I would get in the mud with a lot of these idiots. I think the mods are FAR from impartial & that irritates me as much as the infantile remarks made in the MA. I like a good fight & my mother threatened to beat me severly about the head & torso for avoiding one; so when the mods let certain people type WTFG & STFU & other dumb abbreviations but mute me for pointing out their obvious bias I get irritated. I like the game & Addink can fill my spot with any number of $15 kids, but what will happen when an alternative game becomes available that's as good or better than AH? People who are already tired of the same old terrains & the "uber" planes not being perked etc. adding to the frustration of having some punk say whatever they want to you & not get muted because A: they are friends of the mod or B: they just didn't say anything that bothered that particular mods sense of "political correctness"  will leave en mass. I got muted for typing "studmuffin" in the squad channel while trying to relate something to a squad member of mine that asked me a question. I typed it in on our radio channel number because one of our squad says my mic is too loud. That word is not profanity, it just offended the person with mute power because of their warped sense of what's right & wrong. The system isn't perfect & nothing man made ever will be; but at least be fair. Is that too much to ask?

 Sorry for rambling, it's late - I'm getting old - & I may be Bi-polar.:D

look... the mods do what they can when they're on. It's hard for HTC to make sure someone is on policing these teenie boppers... If not the mods policing then who? The 'other' players on line who dont want to deal with the crap some of the T-B Clan throws out? That only leads to more crap.

There are several choices for everyone. 1, you can deal with it and hope a mod shuts em up. 2, you can squelch them and or Ch200 and be done with it. Or you can just log off and play something else.

I've only had 1-2 run-ins with mods, all of which told me to basicly cool my jets and let whatever banter that was going on die. No big deal. I've been muted by the system more times than I could ever begin to add up. That's more anoying than a mod kindly telling me to put a sock in it... because it's usually over some word the system didnt like, like what jaxxo was refering to.

I'm not saying that the this stuff with the mods and their "unfair judgments" doesnt go on. I'm just saying, I am deffinatly no angle in game, and they've never given me problems that most of you are speaking of. Again, I do however agree with Blix that the Teenie Bopper Clan needs to be culled. I'd much rather they just go back to their Xbox period...

IMO people should get more warning before a mute

That has always been the standard unless some one has become a problem child and warned/ muted multiple times previously.

Well, hmm. This I gotta respond to. I've been playin this game for over 4 years now and have seen just about everything there is to see. But I must admit, some of the Mods are a Joke. It's on a rare occasion that I've actually been a bad boy and said something on 200 that was worth a Mute and I get a warning. (And yes I do know the difference between a Automated warning and an Actual Mod intervention)
But at other times I've actually been making fun of my own handle SHawk
and typed *****Hawk and got a Immediate 10 min Mute.
Now, lets get real here. Is **** really all that bad?
I've seen spewing of way worse 4 letter words from peeps on 200 and on Vox and they go on for hours.
Anyhow I guess what I'm trying to say is, Be Consistent!!
No one likes to be singled out for an offense that others get away with on a daily basis.
I consider myself a fairly good judge of character and deal with all kinds of people in my own business everyday. Inconsistancy is not something anyone wants to put up with. Imagine employees that show up 3 days a week, yet gets promoted over a guy who shows up everyday and bust his hump to do a good job. He's likely gonna find another job.
If I was a Moderator, WindX would be banned for life. His constant blathering of BS is beyond ridiculous. He's here for one purpose, to cause trouble. If he lost CH200, he'd probably quit the game. Nuff Said.

well it's not very fair in my book.....

Some people are allowed to harrass, make 'personal' jokes and insults.... all over the place....not just on 200 .. but on these boards too.....

It's a double standard....   or maybe just a WASP standard.

All people want is for you to be consistant HTC.......  You let some things slide while others personally insult people, and make jokes......well if they can make jokes why can't others make jokes back?

I guess gender bashing, gay bashing, ethnic/country bashing etc etc is all fine unless you make fun of rednecks?

I just hope you don't hold any illusions that this is fair.

================================

here's a good example:  http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=170925

Replace 'gay'/'transgendered' with Black... replace 'studmuffin' with '******'..... If it's not acceptable then ... why is it accptable as such?

I wonder if which of these words will even get muted '******'?  FYI that was the 'N' word, wouldn't you agree they are both hateful terms?

So when is the last time there was a hatecrime like this aginst Blacks?.... I'd think you would agree such terms as used in similar respects  are unacceptable....... heance the '******' N word.   But apperantly 'studmuffin' is just fine.

A simple point, and there are pleanty more.
