God bless America where you can just pick up the phone book and choose from hundreds of dentists who will make an appointment for the next day or sooner.

True, but at the risk of being accused of thread hijack, the analogy I would draw upon is that  sugar is like a gun, and bacteria is like an idiot. When an idiot gets a gun, anything can happen and often does - 9000 times a year in the US alone. We can't do anything about idiots, but we could do something about guns.

Similarly, I accept what you say about bacteria being the problem with regard to tooth decay - we can't eliminate bacteria, but we can sure do something about our sugar intake.

You really should get some help with your obsession beetle. For someone who says thay are not into guns, doesn't like them and doesn't want to be near anyone who does have guns you bring them up into threads where the subject has absolutely no relevence.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

It was actually a good analogy, imo.

ripley.. I have dental insurance... I don't pay for having a tooth filled.

beet... your analodgy is wrong.   in the case of sugar... all sugar attracts the bacteria and the bacteria has no benificial use.

In the case of guns... only a very tiny fraction of the gun owning population uses them to commit homicides many of which are either justified or... we are better off with..  on the other hand....  the same guns are used 1.5-3 million times a year to prevent crime.

but then being from england..... I didn't expect you to know anything about either dentistry or guns.   I mean.... how could you?

Sure you did. You pre-paid for it. Insurance premiums aren't free. Someone always pays.

they are part of my workers benifiets... of course I am paying for them in lower wages but.... I was responding in the spirt of ripleys post...  If you want to go to ultimate posts then I would suggest that his high taxes are a "cost" for dental work.
