I know the place.  Lots of old Aces High players are out there (Honch, Yams, Wulfi), and I'm in north Durham county about an hour away.  I grew up in Pennsylvania, and my family had season tickets to the Flyers in the early 1980s, but I've gone to a number of Hurricanes games since moving here.  You can't help but love the club, and when I showed up to a Flyers-Hurricanes game with a Flyers jersey on in the middle of a bunch of Hurricanes fans, they were all polite and glad to see a fellow hockey fan.

I'm not sure a Hurricanes fan in Philadelphia would have found the same reception.  That's really refreshing attitude.

I personally witnessed a Flyer's fan get a very rough reception at a Bruins game in the old Boston Garden.

I was born in RI. Moved down here in the 80's Been here since.

The fans here are great people. They just want to have fun.

Being a college sports state allready its only a mater of time before the long long list of our sports fans here jump into Hockey. When that fan base begins.... well I dont think people can imagine what thats going to do. People think its just hot air, but you being here as well as I, know all about the depth of that fan base. That day will come. Its allready started.

I hope we have many years with this team.

If the Canes only made left turns and raced eachoter around the ice maybe they could sell out tickets.

Jeeze, I still remember my first game.  Blackhawks vs Blues at the old Checkerdome.  Before the 1st period was over 2 guys had been "escorted" from the arena and there were a half a dozen minor fights breaking out at any given time.  Beer was flying, people were in each others faces yelling and screaming, and that was just in the stands.  On the ice it looked like somebody could get killed.

I miss that.

I remember countless bench-clearing brawls in the old days. . . back then even the goalies would go at it against each other LOL. Remember those days? It used to take the officials like...10 minutes to sort out all of the penalites:)

My favorite fight. Steve Sheilds (Buffalo) vs. Garth Snow (Phili?) They came to center ice and faught a good 5 minutes. Pull every pad off of eachother except leg pads. Was a great fight to watch.

The Triangle area isn't NASCAR country, you gimp... it's basketball country.  NC State, Duke, and North Carolina are all within 30 minutes of one another here, and Wake Forest is less than two hours to the west.

Now, win or lose, it's hockey country too.
