This is the one I like best:

"fully loaded stukas turnfighting with spits"

What you should say is "fully loaded stukas, piloted by someone that knows what they are doing, killing handsomehunk spits"

The cover is there, and it doesn't affect FPS at all.  Ugly on pics, but in a fluid environment it is art.

that video does good showing the framerate  :D

I like the soldier..

SHIFT, ALT, Q, PgUP.. BANG!!.. damn, missed SHIFT, ALT, Q, PgUP.. BANG!!.. ...etc

I had that game for about 2 days, I 'played' it on their abysmal servers a bit and promptly sold it to a buddy for $10..  the next day he said i ripped him off  :D

He was turn-fighting them gadfly. And surviving. For 3-4 minutes. Against a mixed group of hurricanes and spitfires. Very historical.

Nice slideshow BTW. lol

Kieran,

Theres more simplier answer to that: point invalid.
Pst. nobody ever proved tanks machinegun disabling guns and now even 37mm is useless against chars gun.

(except I could swear hawk has twice killed my PZ-II's 20mm and in 1.31 damaged *track* of Pz-III and Pz-II)

Dowding,

obviously we tend to stick in wrong places..
I've today seen alot allies all over.

Flying is bit different.. I miss better working joystick configuration. (theres deadband btw. although with little bug)
Though, stukas turning.. ever tried to go in vertical fight with stuka? that causes alot problems for one in Stuka.
There are alot odd things.. but.. AH has too.

Not only will the MG's from a 109 kill a Char if you hit it in the grill but I have seen it done and have done it myself.  Also seen many hundreds if not thousands of Chars get roasted by a lone infantry man running up with an MP40 and doing the same thing to it.

I never had a problem with the tank aspect except for the completely ludicrous numbers you saw of the Char.

The aircraft flying was a different story especially when I was playing it on a Athlon 700 with 512MB and a GF2GTS 32MB video card.  I have not attempted to play it since I upgraded but I would assume that not much has changed.

Seriously I hope they get their head out of their bellybutton and actually finish what they start.  Although they are still FAR away from the quote I read over a year ago..."We had the flight simulation part done and complete in about 90 days after starting the project."  I don't remember where I read it but I think it was on the first forums they had and it was Mo that wrote it I believe.

If anyone has a spare copy and want to get rid of it, do the following:

1) Package it up
2) Include a $20 bill in the package
3) Include a bottle of valium for the frustration when playing it
3) Send it to me
4) I will try it, then I will throw it out for you when I get pissed off

          :)

On a personal note, though I know some good guys are involved in Cornered RAt, but the fact that Snail is involved is enough to prevent me from becoming involved.  I got to see who and what he is at a WB con, and I wasnt impressed.  Plus, those that applied for beta and didnt get selected received an extremely patronizing email from Snail.  Didnt impresse me.  Just my feelings and opinion, but for now, thats me.

Now there's spawn limits it's much better.

I was tempted to actually pay a subscription until today. I was in a Char plastering a town with the 75mm cannon, and I start hearing plinking sounds like from a rifle. There's no tanks around me firing at me and suddenly all 4 crew are dead. Perplexed, I shift-esc and immediately see what killed me - a lone rifleman firing into the side of my tank from point blanc range. Very infuriating. I'm fairly sure a rifle bullet should not be able to penetrate tank armour.

I think I'll wait until more bugs are squashed.

Fishu-

Point NOT invalid. I never specified Allied or Axis. You believe I only played Allied, which is NOT true, I split time evenly between both. I saw it on both sides, though it seemed to happen more often in the Allied stuff. I also rode the R34, not the Char- as well as the P38t rather than the PIII. I've had it happen to me too many times to discount it personally. You don't have to believe it, of course, but I know it is true.

The infuriating thing is the programmed way in which the sycophants mimicked every "Mo said" or "Hatch said" like they were quoting scripture and verse. Silliness. People have given up on using the cannon, they just MG the tank turrets and save the shells for the city targets. This I have seen with my own eyes, so no use denying it.

Therein lies some of my disgust with the project; nothing is ever wrong, it is always something the end-user did wrong. This ranges from setting the game up to gameplay. The truth is about half may be the end-user, but certainly half is CRS's fault.

There are too many things that are wrong to enjoy the game IMHO. Since the official CRS stance is there is nothing wrong (except the way I play the game, set up my rig, ISP, etc., etc.) I see no reason to pursue it or support it any longer. The straw that broke the camel's back for me (I was pretty sure I wouldn't pay, but I was waiting for 1.3) was the way Hatch threw the AHC to the dogs. That man has no respect for the player base if this is how he will treat them.

Kieran,

Better point is that I've tested it with ally and axis tanks.. machinegun was proven not to harm the tanks if vision slit was closed.

However, effect of planes and their machineguns .. works.
Yesterday brew up few A13's (from very top of the tank) with four MG's of BF110 after I ran out of cannon ammo.
but haven't seen char stop because of plane strafing it from above or side.
Axis tanks didn't like MG from top either.. I've tested it and experienced it in first person.

For the sake of argument, let's say I agree about the tank slit (I don't, but let's move beyond that).

Should aircraft .303's or 7.92's pierce armor? I know the armor thickness is much lower on top of the tank, but that seems a bit ludicrous to me. Cannons were carried on aircraft expressly because those puny peaguns wouldn't do much damage to aluminum, so I am at a loss as to how they can be so effective against the steel on the tanks. Perhaps IF they were AP rounds, but I am lead to believe CRS didn't model those types of rounds.

Clarification: My one and only argument is how tanks in the game have a tendency to have their turret cannon disabled by MG fire. I am talking about crew still alive, all positions active, gun just dead because of MG type stuff here. Naturally if the slit is open and the crew member is dead there should be no cannon.

Kieran why don't you try to find data for armour penetrations? Oh Yes, It's easier just whine....

Here are something for you:
7,92/57 SmK penetr.5mm from 100m to steel plate and 10mm from 300m to iron.

7,92/57 SmK(H)(hardened core) penetr. 20mm from 500m to steel.
