I really enjoy the semi-auto's. Know a coupla guys with socom's. very nice, indeed.

But I'd never ever part with a worked up battle rifle. ever. nope. nuh-unh, no freakin way.

why?

'cause nothin sez lovin like the thumpin of those old masterpieces of iron and wood. they are living pieces of history, entrusted to me for a few generations of wonder and joy. there are always exceptions.. both the enfields had been hacked up by a bubba.. they are mere shodows of the glorious pieces they once were. those i'll part with.. the SKS's.. who cares. But the m-39, the m-38, the Mauser and the M1...

never.

Semi's are great.. but a real, big caliber battle rifle is another creature; from an era where marksmanship and finesse, fieldcraft and reach far out weigh the modern concepts of close engagement, numerical superiority and volume of fire.

But in your shoes.. I'd keep the BR and add the socom as an extension to a mousgun collection. but, that's just me; and on this subject most shooters consider me certifiable. ;)

That is true, plus why would they even need to know. They'll just kick in every single door anyway in their neverending effort to save us from ourselves.

I guess I should have said it was a cheap Italian replica. Shoots great and you are right about how much fun they are. But if I had a "real" one I would not shoot it, I'd have guessed they were worth six figured nowadays.
