Men fear thought as they fear nothing else on earth -- more than ruin -- more even than death.... Thought is subversive and revolutionary, destructive and terrible, thought is merciless to privilege, established institutions, and comfortable habit. ... Bertrand Russell

only a few war movies had a real impact on me, like:

 - Saving Private Ryan
 - Das Boot

and just a few to name because they are entertaining to watch:

 - Battle of Britain
 - The Great Escape
 - Un Taxi pour Tobrouk
The statement below is true.
The statement above is false.

The Longest Day

A Bridge to Far

Saving Pvt Ryan

are among the tops, but it is hard to limit or define the "3 best".  It is too subjective.

Also in my top listing I would include

Battleground

Blackhawk Down

We were soldiers once...

Flying Tigers

Sands of Iwo Jima

Platoon

Apocalypse Now

Full Metal Jacket

Hamburger Hill

I always like "In Harms Way",  but hardly a "great" war movie.

Saving Private Ryan
The Great Escape
The Longest Day
The Green Berets (kinda sappy at the end, glossy but ok)
We Were Soliders Once
Full Metal Jacket
The Battle of Britain
The Dirty Dozen
Kelly's Heros
Midway

The title you're looking for is "Where Eagles Dare".

Team America Lyrics - Pearl Harbor Lyrics

I miss you more then Michael Bay missed the mark
When he made Pearl Harbor
I miss you more than that movie missed the point
And that’s an awful lot girl
And now, now you’ve gone away
And all I’m trying to say is
Pearl Harbor sucked, and I miss you

I need u like Ben Affleck needs acting school
He was terrible in that film
I need u like Cuba Gooding needed a bigger part
He’s way better than Ben Affleck
And now all I can think about is your smile
and that ****ty movie too
Pearl Harbor sucked and I miss you

Why does Michael Bay get to keep on making movies?
I guess Pearl Harbor sucked
Just a little bit more than I miss you

It was a marathon film done by Ted Turner. It was initially released in theaters.

I was in Gettysburg during the filming researching a thesis. I met Richard Jordan and Martin Sheen at a local restaurant. There was confusion about reservations. Richard Jordan had a reservation for a party of 6. I have the same last name, but my reservation was for a party of two, both at 8 PM.

Richard died about a year later.. Inoperable brain tumor...:(  He was a very nice fellow.
