AMD has released two updates (June 2006) that may help your problems -

AMD Dual-Core Optimizer (maybe the one to fix spinning clipboard with two cores enabled)

AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor Driver for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Version (x86 and x64 exe) 1.3.2

Avail here -

http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_13118,00.html

The
AMD Dual-Core Optimizer

Maybe useful for all Windows OS - 2000, XP, XP64

I tried the patch, and AH now works in the XP mode with at least an ATI video card.   So far no problems :D

Kev,

Does the game run any better using both processors, vs running in Win98 emulation mode using only one processor?

Yes it does.
Skuzzy has said lots of times AH2 is multithreaded and will take advantage of extra processors or cores.

Yes, the game has the potential to run smoother if you can run multi-core.  I would like to hear from more dual core users as to whether or not this patch will fix thier problems with Aces High II.

As I am using Windows 2000 I only used the "AMD Dual-Core Optimizer" patch.

No detrimental effects up to now, nothing seems different either, but as Win 2000 doesn't have problems with dual core CPUs I was kind of expecting this result anyway.

Kev, when did you add this?  Did the CTD's start after that?  Or were they happening before?

Just checking.  I want to be sure this AMD patch does not introduce other anomalies.

It was/is only a matter of time before Microsoft or AMD fixed the problems with dual-core CPU's and Windows XP.

Skuzzy I have a AMD 4400+ with a ATI X1900 video card.  Since the patch the game has run smooth, no problems as of yet.   Been able to run the game with all the sliders all the way up.   As of yet no CDT problems, nor any graphic adnormalities.   As to whether or not it makes any differences running in single or dual processor mode, I don't see much difference other then the graphics seem run a bit smoother.

I am particularly interested in the users who have dual-core AMD CPU's and are running Windows XP.  If you post in this thread, please note the OS and which CPU you are running.

Thank you.
