1st "Cannon Fodder" Valkyrie (the ones that get shot down all the time) in Fighter mode

2nd VF-1J Valkyrie in the colors used by Max Sterling flying in "Guardian mode

3rd VF-1J Valkyrie in the colors used by Rick Hunter before he took over "Skull Squadron" in Battloid mode

He has a different name in the Japanese "Macross" series of anime movies.

He has a different name in the Japanese "Macross" series of anime movies.

VF-1A is the designation for the first one.

Rick's squad was Vermillion (at least in the novelization) and he was given Max and Ben Dixon as his first subordinates.

Rick's name in Macross was Hikaru.  I don't remember what his family name was.

Yes, DeSelys.  ;)  Thar be geeks among ya!  :D

I watched Macross Zero.  It's very very high quality!  I heard it took a week just to make one of the 5 min action sequence.  Too bad it's not available yet in the US... most likely due to complicated rights issues with Harmony Gold.

I'm lost with the timeframe.  Does Macross Zero take place before or after the giant SDF-1 crashed @ South-Pacific.

After it crashes...It's before the world is completely united and both sides (east/west) are using the brand new technology for the first time.
