My First Kill
« on: August 05, 2006, 08:02:56 PM »
I got my first kill just a minute ago. I was in the training area and I was flying an ME - 262A. I saw a B24 at my 2 oclock low and 3k feet out. I manuvered myself to get on his backside cause I knew from reading history books and such, that attacking the front of a bomber was suicide. So I basically did a straffing run from about 800 feet out. I emptied my cannons into him and he went down.

Score 1 for the BUM.

1) You can't kill anyone in the TA.

2) HOing bombers is the BEST angle of attack. You can shoot them, they can't shoot you, and it puts you in the best position to hit the pilot which is the fastest way to knock one out. Just be ready to dodge like mad if you miss.

Approaching a BUFF with a half-way competent gunner from dead astern will very quickly teach you just how appropriate that term is.

I DO believe the part about it taking a full clip to knock him down, tho, based on some of the complaints I've seen about the spud guns on the 262 'round here.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I remember when I killed 100 bad guys in the TA with one shot.

Had 100 bad guys on me in the TA but I pulled this sweet reversal and fired one shot in a p40e and they all were toast, true I tell ya.

There's two things that I'll gladly HO: BUFFs, and Spitfires.
