Nash?  Why do you through out such bold rhetoric, and then depend on others to argue for you?

I think it would be a lot easier if we just declared them prisoners of war.  As I read the GC, we could do about all that is now being done in Gitmo if they were declared P'sOW, and we would have a lot better PR in the world opinion.

That being said, did you read this?

Senate Wins Fight To Lower Allowable Amperage Levels On Detainees' Testicles
September 29, 2006

WASHINGTON, DC—Led by a bipartisan group of senators critical of White House policy on suspected terrorists, the Senate passed a bill Thursday that prohibits interrogators from exceeding 100 amps per testicle when questioning detainees. "Even in times of war, it is counterproductive and wrong to employ certain inhumane interrogation techniques, and using three-digit amperage levels on the testicles of captives constitutes torture," said Sen. John Warner (R-VA), who has also supported reducing the size of attack dogs and the height of nude pyramids. "Using amperages of 99 and lower, with approved surge protectors on the jumper-cable clamps, are the hallmarks of a civilized society." The legislation did not address amperage restrictions on suspected terrorists' labia.

Nash, I don't know whether you can edit thread titles, but you might want to try.  I'd hate to see you banned over something as useless as that.  We've already lost several personalities, and it'd be a shame if this BBS were to become wholly one-sided.  It's pretty clear you feel pretty strongly on this matter.  Granted you can't do much good over an internet BBS, but you won't help anything if you get yourself muzzled.

I think the problem with the POW aspect is no war has been declared (that's something I'm sore about).  The 'enemy combatants' seem as though they're in a sort of legal limbo, and perhaps that's not a great direction for the US to take things.  We've done worse in the past, but normally we should seek to improve past mistakes, not repeat them.

The "it can't happen here" attitude, the "I've got mine so who cares about anyone who doesn't" attitude.....that stuff is endemic to the baby boomer generation.  I think we're stuck with it until they finally die off in another few decades.  Hopefully by then this country isn't so messed up that it can't be fixed.
