I use flexall 454, but my wife says it sets her on fire. She's getting a little muscle and knee pain from the new stair stepper machine, so we're looking for something she can use that doesn't burn and won't be hard on her skin (she's real sensitive, she was a natural blonde that went natural redhead, with very fair skin), but will still ease the pain. Any suggestions? Maybe something without menthol? We're both back to working out, and if I can help her keep going it'll help me, and I need it bad, my 52" chest and 32" waist went to a 44" chest and 38" waist, I bet my body fat percentage is through the roof. I'm getting tired of getting out of breath when I bend over to tie my shoes because my fat gut keeps me from inhaling.

ok thas alot of information we dont care about.. just post some pictures of your wife and I'm sure we will give you more advice than you will ever need.:rolleyes:

Im in the same boat Savage. I really wanna workout...but its just too much like work. I get depressed just thinking about it, and makes me wanna eat something.

You may have to change your philosophy.  Instead of trying to fix injury after it happens, prevent the injury in the first place.

Swimming may be for you... no impact on the joints.  Knee pain comes from impact, however slight.  



I workout on a rowing machine those days I can't get on the lake.  Full body workout, I have been rowing for 20 years and I have never been hurt on the machine or in a boat.  When I ran, before I bought the machine, I was constantly feeling bad effects along with the benefit I was getting.

I have also heard the philosophy that "pain is just weakness leaving the body."

I agree on avoiding the injury to begin with.  I recommend riding a bicycle because you don't strain the knees, and you don't have impact injuries, yet you are able to work some major muscle groups.  I'd get a 5 speed beach cruiser type bike.  If you get a more efficient bike, you just have to ride longer for your workout.

This really IS the O'Club. I got everything but an answer to the original question.

I don't need, want, or have room for, a rowing machine.

I already have a bicycle (we have several). I have a weight bench and weights. And we have a stair stepper.

No one is being injured, we're both suffering some pain from working out.

I'd just really like to find some sort of pain relief cream for my wife to make her life a little easier when she exercises. The menthol and pepper oil based creams burn her skin.

Yeah, it's way too much like work. And I like to eat way too much (that's why I learned to cook, which is probably a BAD thing). That's how I got to 228# at 6' 2" tall. Everything I eat either turns to crap or goes to my waist.


At 43, I'm becoming concerned about my health again, seriously. Provided I don't get killed racing, riding my Harley (if I ever get it back together), or hunting, family history shows I can probably make 80 or so, I'd like to be healthy enough to enjoy it as opposed to just having extra years of miserable health. I'd like to keep my health good enough that if I get time and the chance I can get a pilot's license.

Honestly, if I get to live as long as family history shows, I don't want to be dragging around an O2 bottle behind a scooter from the scooter store.

Never heard of a topical pain medication that wasn't menthol or capsium based.

Did you think about taking an aspirin or tylenol?

If you don't want to take anything systemically, get some of those magnets embedded in a small patch (looks like a round Band-Aid). Surprisingly, they really do work for muscle and joint pain. I was skeptical, but not anymore.

I use some stuff called BIOFREEZE gel.  Its has a light mint odor and its blue in color but disappears when applied to the skin.  It works great on my knee (1 ACL rebuild and 4 scopes on it) and stays with me all day when I am working out at a customers job site.

I buy it from this company Biofreeznow.

I skip the creams and go straight to vitamin M (Motrin).
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.
