Hey haXXor!! (I still think that's hilarious!)

I don't know or remember the specific details but I think the direct route from the bases in England were a through only France.  I am not 100% sure though.

Sure , the direct path is over France ,the 2 other alternates routes are (from England)

Over Bay of Biscay then over Spanish Pyrenees

Or

Over Belgium,Swiss* or Ostreich and Italia



*I don't think the swiss would have agree

My great uncle passed through some parts of France right after they'd been liberated. He was a RAF officer. He said the welcome was incredible, - flowers wine and kisses.

Condemning an entire country for the actions of a small percentage is rather ignorant.  Much like people overseas condemning all Americans for the actions of a few.

France is a wonderful place to visit.  People are friendly and very easy going.  The countryside is beautiful.  Just stay out of Paris.  But then again, Parisiennes (for the most part) are a clique' unto themselves.
