Sony Playstation 3: Cheaper than you may think

After reading about this, I have to wonder...

...What the hell is wrong with Sony? $89 games, hindered Blu-Ray playback resolution for movies, and a gimmicky controller over something that's actually functional?

I was looking forward to this console, hoping that it would be everything they said it would be. It seems that my hopes are dashed, so I guess I'll be going for a Wii instead.

I hear the Wii makes the noise of its name when you throw it out the window.

Sounds like the PS3 will go the way of that other console, NeoGeo. Pricing themselves out of the market in an attempt at attracting the elitists of console gaming.

I wonder just who the marketing genius is who thought that a $90 per game pricepoint would help sell more consoles, probably the same one from the NeoGeo marketing department who thought that a $200 per game pricepoint was open for exploitation. :lol

Already being reported here in Japan that there's a bug; about 200 PS2 games won't run on it currently.

Sorry, I cannot rationalize throwing down 600 bucks for an entertainment system. I own ONE HDTV and could really, REALLY care less about visual quality of HD DVD and Blu-Ray. Rationalizing the pricing of games in the 90 buck area is also non-existent.

What can I rationalize? $400 for a 360. Comes with more reasonable features ($200 add-on for HD-DVD (seperate), vibrating wireless controllers, component cables, headset, X-Box live subby). The games that are out for have won accolades and Microsoft has gotten their software down pat. Gears of War, Oblivion, Project Gotham Gaming, the inevitable Halo 3?

A bunch of great Xbox games are already at 40 bucks.

Oh and rumor on the street: Gran Turismo HD will come severely crippled. You will have to BUY courses and cars as the basic game itself is just the game engine and a smidgen of cars and tracks.

While technophiles and 'hard-core elitists' will most likely taught the PS3 as the best, ultimately the pricing and reasonable usage of said console will make it a failure.

Folks, let's face it. Sony has sucked ince the early 90's and it won't stop before the current management will retire if even then.

Did everyone already forget how they illegally installed rootkit spyware to your computers? How they sold exploding laptop batteries and denied responsibility? How their customer service sucks?

Don't buy Sony.

Is the quality of the output from a ripped DVD as good as if you see it directly from a normal DVD player?

Kinda off topic but similar....you guys see this past SouthPark episode?  Where Cartman is sooo anxious for the Nintendo Wii that he freezes himself and, just like Buck Rogers, something happens and he doesnt wake up until the year 2543?  Great Buck Rogers spoof!
