Looking for controller profiles
« on: December 14, 2006, 02:28:02 PM »
We're building a library of controller profiles to ship with AH so that the first time a person loads the game, a basic setup will be automatically loaded for the particular controller setup that they have.  This will make initial setup or changing components a lot easier.

There's a lot of controllers out there that we don't have so we're looking for some outside help to build this profile library.  Every controller has its own unique id that is used in the name of its configuration file.  These configuration files have the extension .jsm and are located in the Settings folder in your Aces High II folder.

If you'd like to help us out with this, take a look in your settings folder and find any .jsm files and compare their names to the ones below that we already have.  If you have one that is not listed below, just send the .jsm file(s) to me at dougb@hitechcreations.com.

Here's the list of profiles that we already have.  Even if you recognize your stick from the list below but have a .jsm file with a different name, please send that in.  If your .jsm file exactly matches any from the list below, don't send that file.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Pyro, would any vintage profiles be useful?  I use an old CH programmable throttle and stick that I must first program on a win 98 machine before using in XP.

(Using CH F-16 Fighter Stick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Pedals.... obviously analog)

while we're on the subject do the damping and scaling settings save? because every time i log in the scales are all the way up.. back to default.. so i have to reset them every time? personally i thought the old setup was better and easier for that matter.

Lentotaitoahan minulla ei koskaan ole ollut - vaan eipä sitä taida AH'n kaltasissa airquakeissa paljoa tarvitakaan. On toi reaktionopeus ollu aina aika heikko.

I've sent chflightsimyokeusb.jsm.  Only the roll axis is assigned.  This is not a problem, is it?  I assume you enter your own default axes.

You have to select an axis first, then set the scaling.  The scaling panel will show what axis you are working with at the top.

About time you addressed this matter.  Loads newbies just bail because, for some off them, it's all a little to hard to set up.

Same goes for "Views".  Takes them ages to figure out adjustment.  I bet 15 outta 20 don't read "getting started" or "web page help".  They just wanna point an shoot after DL'ing the game.

You realy need to errr pinch ya nose "wipe it" for um:p

P.s would it be posible to show the newbies a movie or slide show on set up / key / dot commands ?

Actually, the first thing I did when I started was read all of the documentation.  Unfortunately, the majority of the features in this fine simulator are not documented at all.  Better documentation would do more to increase interest in this game than anything other than improving the graphics.  Fortunately, my main interest in any aerial combat simulator is the flight model.  Were it not for this, I would have never been hooked on Aces High II.

I assume that the .jsm file will not benefit from macro's or button programming set within the JS profiler.

eg I have the X52 slider profiled as a flap control. Forward it repeats raise commands, back repeats lower commands centre they stay where they are. This way it operates just like the hydraulic flap control valve on a Lavochkin.

Hence my .jsm will not show  a flap control function.
