New Content Editors Package Released
« on: December 15, 2006, 02:42:13 PM »
Updated Terrain, Cloud, and Object Editors are now available.

A couple of the more significant changes:

  • Navigation of the terrains works as in the Object Editor
  • New tile types and slots available
  • Selecting a tile now highlights the type in the terrain list
  • PLB and TERR bitmaps have been replaced with OVL_A and OVL bitmaps in texsrc
  • A new right-click menu for configuring the view options in the map

It works like it does in the Object Editor.  Use the scroll-wheel on the mouse to zoom in and out.

If you do not have a scroll-wheel on your mouse,..then,..uh,...well...you need to get one.  :)

Good information considering I don't use the OE. Thanks! :)

Well, there ya go.  Many of the navigational aspects of the new TE are similar to other programs, such as 3D Studio Max, Maya, and so on.

FYI Swamp and Farm tiles are reversed.

Place a terrain texture as Swamp and you get Farm and visa versa.

I like it so far. Figured out the river tiles and how to use the subtypes, especially River4 and it's little corners.

Question: what is the trick for getting the river to empty into the ocean without the transitions cutting into them?

Edit the Ovly tiles.

That may or may not work. You might lose your transitions with other tiles.

There are several new city objects (of ground and many buildings together with some new and simple vegetation) available in OE. One just needs to figure out their size to snap them together seamlessly.
