Anyone Else Getting Lots of Discos?
« on: January 13, 2007, 09:14:38 PM »
I was fine during December with only a few discos the whole month.  Going into January I didnt have any discos the 1st week and most of this week.  Reaching the end of this week I am getting a lot of discos all of a sudden.  Today alone I have been on the recieving end of at least 6 discos.

I dont know why I am getting all these discos all of a sudden either.  I have run adaware, anti-virus, and cleaned cookies and cache each time I log on to AH.  Sometimes I wont get discoed for a few flights other times I get booted in the 1st flight.  Im too wary right now to even lift a perk plane in case I get discoed that flight.

Ive run pingplotter and everything looks fine.  When login to AH the pings next to the arenas are between 60-80.

My router lately seems to get tired of passing packets occasionally and just boots me out of whatever I'm doing.  Sometimes I can get to it, sometimes I have to hard boot it.

It's a pain.

The last 5 or 6 weeks almost every session ends with a disco or screen freeze/crash.

Pingplotter shows bad relation.
Have a new Graphiccard.
Or is it since Patch 4?

Too many variables.
Have no idea.

Before I never had problems.

Zwerg, I dont know from where you are, but in the last week, i had a VERY bad connection to all HTC servers from Hannover (arcor DSL).
http://forums.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=196493

My pingplot showed severe troubles in Dallas (att.net) and sometimes in the Telia Network. Lots of warping/lag resulted in the game.

It seems to have stabilized somewhat since Friday.

Yes Fury... the Atlantic adds about 80-90 ms to the ping.

From Nothern GER i have 160 ping on http://www.hitechcreations.com right now. It also depends on the ISP your using of course... switching from TKom to Arcor a while back got us an about 20 ms better ping.

Any ping under 300 ms shouldnt really cause any noticable difference in the game. What is more important than the absolute ping time is the fact that it needs to be stable. A very short ping time where half the packets get lost on the way is pretty much useless :).

Thank you Hoarach. You've eased my mind -- I noticed the same thing.

Why did that ease my mind? Well, ya see...last summer my wife had me planting some pines, and in the course of digging one hole I hit...cable. Not power cable (cause after all I'm here typing this!) but cable TV/internet cable. I didnt cut through it, just enough of a ding to get through the insulation and see a little silver. I did the guy thing, fixed it myself with careful and generous application of electrical tape. We picked a new place for the tree, and life went on.

Now this weekend its been raining a lot. And I've been getting discos and an awful sinking feeling....

When I lived in ITaly I was at about 140-170 everyday of every hour... so I had a fraction of a delay from what I saw to what was actually there.  Now being stateside I have really noticed the difference when I am flying it tight situations... I still die alot, but a fraction of a second sooner than I did before! :rofl
Only disco so far was during FSO this past Friday.... right before I dropped my eggs on a CV.... :furious

I'm having major disco problems recently...say within the past 1.5 weeks... My connection used to be rock steady... now I can't seem to stay on for more than 10 mins at a time.

In December I was disco'd once... So far in January, it's been 12 times...

Eight in 2 days is not bad.... so to speak.

When I was living in Italy I would get 50-60 disco's in under 20 hours of total flying..... :cry
