Karnak, that will not fix you're stick spiking problem. One thing I did when I had this problem when AH first came out, was to use a program called WBStick with my Warbirds joystick.cfg file, then copy the settings into my Aces High joystick.cfg file. I can't explain exactly how it works, I can't remember and am at work now. But it basically resets the limits of your joystick inputs and sets them appropriately for the stick you are using, not the default/genereic settings Windows uses.
Another fix or help might be to get a new sound card with a "digital" gameport or a dedicated gameport card such as the PDPI L4 Gamecard. Digital gameports take and 'average' of your stick inputs before reporting them to the computer.
Also you might try taking your stick apart and cleaning the pots, I have done this many times to my CH sticks with no problems. You can either use Electrical Contact Cleaner(spray can) to wash them out, or do like I do and take them completely apart and clean them. You have to be carefull when taking them apart however, they are a bit fragile. If you have a CH stick you can have them (CH) send replacement pots, if it's under warranty they might send them free or ask you to send the stick in, if not, they are relatively cheap I believe. Also make sure your joystick cables are not routed near any power supply cords, magnets(speaker) or any other source of electrical interference.
If you need more assistance and want to try the WBStick thingy, email me and I send you the file and the instructions on how to set you're Aces joystick.cfg file. Results may vary depending on the joystick you are using, but it might be worth a shot. It is more likely however, that your joystick pots are worn out or need a real good cleaning.
