Good morning Kieran,

That all sounds fine to me, I wasn't egging you but the local crowd that seems to blame all their illnesses & whatnot on mexicans, muslims and anything out of the southern belt. As I said, have a look around, perhaps you will see how it looks that way from the outside.

And now, to answer a few of your points;

Of course

I disagree in some cases, but in the light of today's fast-food approach to it, I could agree in some

I hold a master's degree in education, so am I "academia" enough?
To run a school or a buisness? yes. To run a country, not in my eyes.

I grew up in a poor rural area and never asked for a handout or favor in anything I ever did, and I don't welcome the snide "we know what's good for you poor, ignorant rednecks" attitude that is so prevalent in the liberal dogma.
See my answer above

I'd like to introduce myself; my name is "Middle America".

Saintaw,

Yeah, there's plenty of rhetoric on both sides of the aisle here. I hate it when people grab talking points and spout them without any critical thinking for themselves. Too few true "black and white" issues to make everything as absolute as people try. That just makes us sheep.

I do agree with Lazs's point regarding academics. They can't even run the educational system, let alone the country. The ivory tower crowd does not live in the real world, and does not understand the application of their principles does not always go as planned. A good example would be Johnson's "Great Society". As noble as it was, and as much as it looked at the causes poverty, it ultimately failed. Why?

what classes do people take to run a country?   I watch what happens when they take classes on how to run a city.   Until they do it for a decade they are worthless.

Academics are very narrow sighted with very little real experiance and an outsiders hate of the average person.   They are the ones who come up with utopia and socialism and communism.   I am generalizing of course... hell... I could probly put together some minor degree if I took a few required fill in classes.  I am probly the last guy in my field who will not have at least a BS degree.  The other one I know of retired a couple of years ago and is making double as a consultant for an engineering firm.

As for polititians... They should never come from the ranks of acadamia..  Nor should the be lawyers or at least... not many of em should.. they should represent a wide spectrum of professions like the founders intended.

There should be no professional politicians.

Term limits, with a peer-chosen core of experienced politicians who are allowed to continue to run for office beyond 2 or 3 terms.  20% of term-expired politicians, voted by their peers as being worthy to fill the role of experienced "adult supervision" and continuity ought to be enough to chair the important comittees and keep things running.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

Coulters comment was planned, delivered, and purposely pointed as a troll to propogate hypocritical response from the Librules who rejoice at comments like Bill Mahr  and his Ilk make everyday... AC is a very intelligent women on more levels then any of the men on this BBS and to think otherwise and respond otherwise is just uneducated blabber..
Hypocritical being that with the left its ok to verbally on national tv wish for an assasination attempt on conservative X but its evil to call Librule Y a studmuffing0t when he acts like one and employees nasty people in his campaign who say much worse things then Coulter said..

Based on the transcript posted above, Maher never "wished" for the assasination of the VP. He did say that lives would have been saved had he (the VP) died.

Maher - Editorializing
Coulter - Name calling

If you can't see the difference you are blind.

Ann Coulter is about the female version of Rush Limbaugh. I think both give conservatives a bad name. This reminds me of the time when Rush Limbaugh said something to the effect that Micheal J. Fox was faking his Parkinsons symptoms or playing them up to get more exposure. This just shows me how stupid he is. These two portray a wide stereotype of conservatives as judgmental, opinionated, hollier than thou, know it alls that need to shut up and use those two objects on both sides of their head instead of the hole in the front of their face. I believe it has been known for sometime that the wise man is one who listens more than he talks and posseses a great amount of empathy from which to learn of others situations instead of telling other people how to do things without walking in that persons shoes and believing they know better. Ann Coulter is one of those extreme versions of a conservative but i believe most conservatives posses her basic qualities and the ones i've stated in varying amounts. I have no wonder why consevatives don't respect gay people as real people, don't understand the situation in Iraq and why there is such hatred toward America, don't and are not willing to understand why global warming is or is not occuring, and deny it. It is usually the more liberal people among us that change things, that are willing to understand and accept change rather than chastizing those who are willing to look at the truth for what it is or is not worth without a judgemental heart while keeping their ears open and their mouths shut. No wonder our current president can't understand intelligence, no wonder they don't get Iraq or gay people and use such language, sometimes you can think you know too much. It's slips like these that can really say something about a person or a (group). Things like this usually put me on alert for someone and what they say when they say something you've probably always known all along.  You know.... "Ms. Ann Coulter" sometimes you can think you know so much that you can't learn anything else and then one day you realise you know nothing at all. Go's for alot of conservatives too.
