Tyler,
I don't know about your stick and how to calibrate it. If you go to the Control Pannel, and Gaming Options, click on the Properties button then the settings tab. You should find a calibration button there. Just follow the instructions. There is also a calibration in the game. Click on the Setup button on your clipboard, the Joystick button, and you will find a Calibration button. Just follow the instructions. Some joysticks have their own calibration software, if that's the case, someone else my need to help you with that.
I assume you are having problems on take off. You can try the auto-take-off. You can turn it on by clicking on the Setup button on your clipboard, then the Flight button. You will find the auto-take-off button there. When you use auto-take-off, you just start the engine, and take control by moving your stick once your in the air.
If you want to do manual take-offs, you will need rudder control. Use your rudder to stear your aircraft down the runway. On single engine aircraft, it will pull both left, then right as you come up to speed. It will take some practice. Don't pull back on the stick until the plane flys itself off the ground. pull up slightly, then put your gear up.
If your using bombers with a heavy bomb load and fuel, you will need to use the whole runway, and pull very gently up. Pick a runway without a hill at the end of it.
Good Luck,
Gunner <CAF>
