Just built my latest rig, thought I'd share a few things.
1) AMD dual core - If your getting the spinning clipboard with XP, you've done something wrong. Fresh install with AMD fixes works perfectly.
2) LS-120 do not like being set as 'masters', will cause XP to lock up.
3) nVidia 8800's under Win 2k - drivers only give up to 4x AA, plus stability issues.
4) Don't rely on memory auto config 100% of the time. Always check the manufacturers website and make sure it's running at the specs listed.
Mine is listed as 1.9v - 2.1v, but auto configs at 1.9v at the aggressive timings. Resulted in random crashes, manually setting to 2.1v cured them.
5) Ended up getting XP Pro for dynamic disk support, XP Home doesn't.
Overall even after my many years of building systems I learn't a few more things

Forgot - Perc 3/DC RAID controller - caused lockup during boot using MS drivers, works fine using Dell drivers.
Booted up safe mode + networking, grabbed them from dell.
